Rolling Stone has posted a very interesting artcile about how The Last Jedi is an evolution of Star Wars and not a revolution of it.You’ll have to read the full article for complete understading of the point attempting to be made. Agree or disagree with the premise, it brings up interesting points on why many classic Star Wars fans aren’t biting when it comes to this new film.
We have our last Visual Guide update for the year, featuring Poe’s Boosted X-wing Fighter from the Star Wars [The Last Jedi] line. Just in time for the new year (and hopefully new product), this update very nearly completes our Star Wars [The Last Jedi] Visual Guide, with just one more item to go. Click below to have a look at this guide, and click here if you want to check out our full review of this set.
Just in time for the end of the year, check out the Brian’s Toys Newsletter for some cool stuff on the docket this week:
It’s our last review of 2017! The “Rogue One” 12-Inch Figure six-pack has some neat figures in it, but it feels more repetitious than anything else. It’s also the only way you can get K-2SO. Find out more in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even comment about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.
JTA sponsor Empire Toy Shop has a weekend sale going on now with this $99.95 deal on Wave 13 of The Black Series, and more discounted Star Wars on their site! Check it out HERE!
It looks like we get to look forward to a bit more John Williams with the announcement that he will be writing the theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Variety has the exclusive.
The highly sought-after Scarif Stormtrooper (that isn’t even a carry-forward figure in The Vintage Collection yet) was supposedly in stock a couple of days ago. But now Walmart is sending out emails explaining that your order has been canceled because of no stock. What’s more, when The Black Series [Phase III] line goes mainstream (soon) the Scarif Trooper isn’t even one of the figures part of the assortment that online retailers can order. What gives? Hasbro: GET THIS FIGURE OUT AGAIN…. and in GREATER NUMBERS!
Hasbro also re-released the Y-wing Scout Bomber in the Rogue One toy line. Let’s check it out in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even comment about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.
I still cannot believe all of the deals at Hasbro Toy Shop’s eBay store. One standout item, the Y-wing Scout Bomber is only $7 and change; an item that retailed for $24.99. There are many other fantastic deals as well. It’s worth checking out!
Ezra Bridger’s Speeder is our latest Visual Guide update from the Rogue One line. Click below for our full guide page. Make sure to also stop by and read our full review.
Now that we have all had some time to digest The Last Jedi, let us know how you rank the current Star Wars films. Please stick to the current eight (8) episodic films and the standalone film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. (That means your ranking should include no more than nine films.)
Why did Hasbro re-release Ezra Bridger’s Speeder when there are so many other Rebels products to get to in the toy line? This re-released Rogue One line Class I vehicle is decent, but redundant.

We posted this yesterday morning on our Facebook page, but in case you missed the news, actor Alfie Curtis, who played Cornelius Evazan in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, died at age 87. Fox News has the full story.
Wow! ROSS discount chain stores are finally blowing out their current Star Wars stock! We have received multiple reports on these markdowns. The AT-ACT is $29.99. The Walmart AT-ST is $21.99. And the super successful TBS6 [P3] FO Special Forces TIE Fighter is $24.99. Get there before they’re gone! Special thanks to friends Josh and Frank for the images and alerts!
If you still need the Walmart Exclusive The Black Series 3.75″ Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader, now is the time to grab it! Unfortunately, it is not on rollback like some of the others.
Why did Hasbro re-release the Assault Walker in the Rogue One line? We don’t know either. Let’s check it out in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even comment about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! UPDATE: It looks to be “FAKE NEWS” now according to Bleeding Cool. But we have heard reports that Disney is asking sites to take down the artwork. So, it looks like no one knows for sure at this point.
The Disney lawyers must be leaning hard on Mark Hamill. (Or, that’s what I like to pretend in my head when an actor who formally talked trash about a Disney Star Wars film suddenly has a change of heart.) USA Today posts and update to Mark Hamill’s recent revelations.
The Rey (Starkiller Base) Vs. Kylo Ren/Poe Dameron Vs. First Order TIE Fighter Pilot/Finn (Takodana) Vs. FN-2199 Toys R Us exclusive six-pack is another perplexing release. See why this Rogue One exclusive doesn’t make too much sense in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even comment about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.
With the relative success and accolades the BB-8 2-In-1 Mega Playset has attained, it would make sense if Hasbro continued a playset type of product with a pack-in figure, wouldn’t it? We hope to see them take advantage of the playset market more consistently and see them keep it in the $129.99 to $149.99 range. It goes without saying that a new Star Wars film is the best time to do that sort of thing.
Is 8 the new 12 when it comes to the return of The Vintage Collection? From what we’re hearing, this could be a strong possiblility.
Need more Yoda in your life? Check out the preview of the Legendary Scale Yoda, part of their 12 Days of Sideshow announcements.
Let’s finish up the Star Wars [The Last Jedi] category (for now) with the First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter which is a Walmart exclusive. It’s the focus of our Research Droids Reviews today! After some digging, I was able to find some Amazon pages for some upcoming The Black Series 6″ Figures. I was also able to find the Amazon pages for the upcoming Solo 6″ figures which include 2 actual names. So without further ado, here are the pages in case you wish to add them to your lists: DJ (Canto Bight), Clone Captain Rex, 4-LOM, (and others which JTA cannot post now). Unfortunately, I couldn’t find working links to Rey (Island Journey) or Grand Moff Tarkin, but we’ll keep you updated!

Forbes is claiming that ‘The Last Jedi’ grosses are collapsing with the worst daily holds of all nine Star Wars movies. In North America, daily holds for the Rian Johnson-directed flick have been significantly worse than those experienced by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Oh man. This is priceless folks. The man who played Luke Skywalker says exactly what I feel. He even refers to the Disney Star Wars version of Luke Skywalker as “Jake Skywalker.” Affirmation (from those who matter) is a beautiful thing.
IMPORTANT! We are getting a fantastic response from our readers for the 12 DAYS OF JTA contest. However, we are getting many more comments than we are “entries.” PLEASE BE SURE that you’re filling out the Rafflecopter form IN EVERY CONTEST DAY in addition to whatever the daily task is (an example of what you need to fill out is pictured below). If you see a “check mark” visible (also seen below), you have completed the Rafflecopter portion of the task. Also be sure you’re using a valid email address as it’s the only way we will be able to contact you if you win. If you’re concerned that you may not have filled out all of the daily forms, please CLICK HERE to catch up on all of the contests! THANK YOU AGAIN for your participation. We hope you’re having fun! Nonstop Star Wars is never a good thing. We have been saying this since 2015. It seems to have ramifications now. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a hit, but the Force may not be as strong for Disney when it comes to merchandise sales this year. Panjiva, a data company that tracks the giant shipping containers that arrive at U.S. ports, says 6,587 of them with Star Wars gear were shipped in the seven months leading up to The Last Jedi, but that’s down 47 percent from the seven months leading to Rogue One in 2016 and off 56 percent from the same time period ahead of The Force Awakens in 2015. The Hollywood Reporter has the full story. (more….)
Our Visual Guide update tonight features Boba Fett’s Slave I from the Star Wars Rebels line. Click below to have a look at the full guide page. Click here to have a look at our review for this vehicle.

This brisk pace could affect DIS, MAT, HAS, JAKK. Finally! Kimberly Chin from Business Insider has written an article on how the frequency of the Disney Star Wars films (in addition to other factors) may not be ideal for the licensees trying to make money from the merchandise of these blockbuster films. Business Insider has put together a great article which develops excellent points including (1) Disney’s stock was flat even after its latest “Star Wars” flick reported a great box office weekend. (2) Movie sales may not translate into consumer product sales, according to Jefferies Analyst Stephanie Wissink. (3) The frequency of “Star Wars” movie releases may challenge merchandise sales for each movie. This article is worth checking out. It has been a topic we have discussed at length right here at Jedi Temple Archives. Now here it from the people who understand this professionally.
Hot Toys has announced on Facebook their new The Last Jedi Leia Organa Sixth-Scale Figure. Take a look at the new preview gallery here.

Up next for our Visual Guide update is the Rebels The Phantom Attack Shuttle Target exclusive. Click below to check out our full guide page. Make sure to also stop by and read our review.
JTA Reader and Friend Charlie shared this image from his local Target of a Cassian figure stuffed in where the Praetorian Guard should be. This should’ve been an obvious move. There are 8 Praetorian Guards in the movie surrounding Snoke and we have yet to get all “versions” of the P-Guard. They should have definitely foreseen that this would be an army builder (or at least an army of 8) and a Praetorian single or two pack would’ve been a smart decision in my opinion. Would you buy a two pack of Praetorian Guards?
UPDATE: Another example, same set, different store (Walmart). Is this happening near you?
Here we go. Something that was created with the intention to entertain has become a real-world political issue as claims that the Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score is “FAKE NEWS.” MovieWeb.com has written an article which seemingly tries to disparage the raw score and implies that internet trolls are responsible for the film’s poor audience scoring. They develop this more in the article, however. Your thoughts in the comments, please! The politics need to stop on both sides. This is fantasy, folks. Maybe we should stop trying to force real-world issues into fantasy. That might be a start!
It’s now time to check out the final TARGET exclusive from the Rebels line, The Phantom Attack Shuttle, which also includes Kanan Jarrus. Find out more in our Research Droids Reviews today! WARNING! SPOILERS APPLY! I refuse to read anything about The Last Jedi until after I see it in theaters this Thursday, but some of the review headlines coming out are pretty humorous. There are a ton of positive opinions out there, but then there are others like this one from the National Review that are fed up with the Sequel Trilogy and have referred to this film as a”tone deaf mess.” It will be interesting after Thursday night, folks! Read through at your OWN RISK!

So, the premiere of The Last Jedi happened. As you might expect, the praise for the film is off of the charts. Hopefully the same people who praised The Force Awakens are not also praising this film. EW.com has a nice wrap-up of what transpired, but head to that article at your own risk. In fact, from here on out, avoid any articles here or anywhere else about the film until it releases. Official reviews launch soon, so be prepared for more spoilers to leak out.

All of our individual retail store reports are anecdotal at best. From these experiences comes discussions so we can compare and contrast what others are seeing as well. But when it comes to the TARGET exclusive “Return Of The Jedi” three-pack, I have seen some interesting trends. In three of my local stores, this set has completely sold out. I haven’t witnessed an exclusive selling through this quickly since before The Force Awakens (and these are only 5POA figures). I can’t help but think that longtime collectors who grew up with the Original Trilogy are still a strong buying market when it comes to Hasbro toys. I constantly hear from those that think they know all about Hasbro’s stats that collectors are not a significant portion of the buying public for Star Wars toys, yet I am constantly reminded that the opposite of this is true with experiences like this. Again, in my local TARGET stores are seas of Rey (Jedi Training), Kylo Ren, Jyn Erso, Imperial AT-ACT Driver, Rogue One three-packs and a ton of Forces Of Destiny products. But the only Original Trilogy-focused set has sold through in three of my local stores. How can anything against this be argued? I think Hasbro needs to reevaluate their market. Hasbro, get more Original Trilogy stuff into stores and you’ll see sell through again like we did during the Golden Age of Collecting (2006-2012).

Wow! Last night JTA reader Bryan L. sent us news that retailer 99 Cents has the Battle Action Millennium Falcon for only $19.99. This report comes from southern California. Does something like this once again fall into the “penny wise/pound foolish” pot when it comes to Hasbro? Did dumbing this classic vehicle down really pay off?
One of Hasbro’s most controversial moves of all time was reducing the scale of the vehicles line. But some vehicles became a little more accurate in smaller size. Thrawn, Rukh, and the Empire took a week off with “Crawler Commandeers.” Instead, the rebels had to deal with the Mining Guild and a slippery Trandoshan voiced by Star Wars animation veteran Seth Green.
