Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2)/See-Threepio (C-3PO) IN STOCK On Disney App

Posted by Paul | April 27, 2017 at 10:08 AM ET |

JTA reader Roronicus alerts us to the news that the Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2)/See-Threepio (C-3PO) Disney Park Droid Factory two-pack is available on the Disney App now. Also, many of the SW Elite Series marked down to ten bucks plus 40% off with the code BONUS40 and free shipping on orders over $50 with the code SHIP50. If you need some prompting to purchase the Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2)/See-Threepio (C-3PO) set, be sure to check out our glowing review on it HERE.

Jedi Temple Archives broke the huge story: Droid Factory was returning with "buildable" protocol droids. And then Disney made it official at their panel at Celebration Orlando. With special thanks from a combined effort of friends Mario Morales and Nick Rogers, we're able to provide for you a complete sneak peek of the droids (that make up this first wave of 77 individual parts). Click any thumbnail below to see the complete droids by color family. And then be sure to click through to see the stats of just how many parts and droids you'll need to get to have them all.

Closeup Image Of New Disney Droid Factory Protocol Droid Parts

Posted by Paul | April 14, 2017 at 10:31 PM ET |

JTA friend Nick R. sends us an image of the new Protocol Droid Factory parts from Disney's Galactic Nights! Check it out!

Well, the best thing about Celebration Orlando this far was seeing our "rumor" report confirmed. Disney is ABSOLUTELY killing it with their impressive line of Droid Factory figures. And just as we had reported, Protocol Droids are front and center this year. We can expect up to 77 individual parts this year (fitting, huh?) with an initial shipment of around 40. But that's not all. We will see 3PO-series droids, CZ-series droids, RA-7 droids and characters from across the Star Wars saga including The Clone Wars. But that STILL isn't all. Astromech droids will continue as well with another D23 astromech, a new glow-in-the-dark Halloween astromech, a Christmas droid R3-H17, and a Droid Factory version of BB-8. But that's STILL not all. Disney teased a 3.75" scaled Sandcrawler with an exclusive Power Droid. Who cares about 3.75" collectors? Who does? Yup, you got it. Not that other company. Click HERE to see images on our Facebook page.

JTA reader and good friend Mario M. has gotten his hands on the new Disney Droid Factory Protocol Droid arm part. The great is news is that is comes with ball-jointed elbows AND swivel wrists, just like the original Hasbro Build A Droid parts. Of special note, this new Disney Droid Factory part interacts beautifully with existing Hasbro droids. See images for more. Expect minimally 77 new Droid Factory parts to become available this Friday at a special Disney party and then they'll have general public availability at the theme parks beginning Saturday (at least what we were told). Good stuff indeed (and a BIG win for 3.75" SA collectors)!!

Disney Parks Officially Reveals New Droid Factory Products!

Posted by Paul | April 11, 2017 at 05:15 PM ET |

The Disney Parks blog officially announces new Droid Factory figures which have been leaked for months. Check out the official announcement. Special thanks to our friends at Yakface.com for the alert! (Be sure to check out that awesome TVC inspired packaging for Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio!)

We have rumored this for a while now and we have received additional proof today, although it's still officially a rumor at this point! And this is a fascinating development. JTA has just learned that Disney Parks is restarting its hugely popular Droid Factory in the form of PROTOCOL DROIDS. Now, we don't know if they're focusing solely on 3PO-series styled droids or if this line will include other protocol droid-like sculpts (i.e. HK-series, CZ-series, RA-7-series. etc.) We have also learned that the Astromech Droid parts, while no new parts are coming, will remain at the parks. A second "Protocol Droid" kiosk will be placed next to the Astromech Droid kiosk and visitors to the park will be able to build both types of droids. We have also learned that these parts are due to hit theme parks soon, but the guess is that they'll be formally announced at Star Wars Celebration and perhaps debut on May the 4th this year. OH! And the huge news? C-3PO is believed to be part of the first wave; a figure we have been waiting to see made with this popular sculpt for YEARS now. More to come as we follow this story. Stay tuned!

It's Official: Disney Droid Factory The Clone Wars Four-Pack Coming

Posted by Paul | February 11, 2017 at 05:09 PM ET |

It's official. Back around Thanksgiving, we leaked a rumor that we'd see a return of Build A Droid/Droid Factory figures early in 2017. This was then visually confirmed by some new astromech droid images surfacing on the web and presented to the Star Wars collecting community via Yakface.com. Now we have a further development on this rumor. These droids have names (R5-S9, R5-P8, R5-U8 amd R2-C2) and will come in the standard four-pack as we have received The Force Awakens and Rogue One astromech droids. Special thanks to our source for sending us this image.

Posted by Paul | December 08, 2016 at 11:37 AM ET |

Right around Thanksgiving, Jedi Temple Archives revealed that we would see a return of the Disney Parks Droid Factory figures.Yakface.com has found the proof of our "rumor" report online. Check it out!

Fans of the Disney Parks Droid Factory collections will have reason to rejoice in 2017. JTA has just learned that the popular park attraction is set to return in 2017. We don't know to what degree it will return (like whether it will be an all-new collection of astromech droids, or simply just new astromech droid parts including domes, bodies and legs), but we do know for a fact that some of the older pieces will be retired and new ones will enter the fold. Get ready to build new droids in 2017!

Disney Rogue One Droid Factory Set Added To Shop Disney Parks App

Posted by Paul | October 01, 2016 at 02:00 PM ET |

Although currently out of stock, the latest Rogue One Droid Factory 4-pack has been added to the Shop Disney Parks application. You might want to pay attention. Retail is $29.99. Special thanks to friend Josh M. for the alert!

Thank the Maker! Those of you who love screen accurate astromech droids will be thrilled to know that the R5-D4 lookalike droid (Part of the new Rogue One Disney Droid Factory 4-Pack) has the RED PANELS painted on its back just like the real onscreen R5-D4 prop. If you recall, the only screen accurate 3.75" R5-D4 figure we ever received from Hasbro was the remote control version from 2008 in The Legacy Collection. If you own The Vintage Collection figure, you can switch out this body with the one you have and have a screen accurate R5-D4 figure (within reason of course – we are sure some details may have been overlooked). Great job Disney! Photo courtesy of dkmb2008 via JTA reader Mario M.
