Clone commander 5052, also known as Bly, was the leader of the Star Corps of clone troopers assigned to Jedi General Aayla Secura. He served with her on the exotic world of Felucia when he received Order 66. The executive command, originating from the Supreme Chancellor on Coruscant, identified Secura as a traitorous enemy of the state. Demonstrating his unerring loyalty to the Republic, Bly and his troopers raised their rifles and opened fire on their commanding officer, coldly killing the unsuspecting Jedi.

Bly was one of the first generation of clone commanders to be trained by the ARC trooper Alpha. The ARC troopers were a specially bred type of clone, more independent and with less docility tampering than the standard trooper of the line. Alpha's training program emphasized independence and outside-the-manual thinking.

We don’t know how much more goodness we can take from Sideshow Collectibles. Of course this is a nonsensical statement because we would never want their marvelous craftsmanship to ever cease. The Militaries Of Star Wars line has been a long running focus for the Star Wars licensee and high-end collectors probably never expected to get so many armored figures into their 12” collections as they did with help from Sideshow. Clone commanders, sergeants, captain and generic troopers have all been released to thunderous applause from collectors and it seems that there is no end in sight at all. This is good because despite all of the great characters released to date, there are still a plethora of others we want to see before we’re too old an gray to appreciate them. Thankfully Sideshow Collectibles has assured us that the end is nowhere in sight and that we can expect greater things to come in the future. The Commander Bly 12” figure is another testament to Sideshow’s commitment to excellence and collectors have a lot to rave about with this most excellent release. Commander Bly is accurate, authentic and articulated beyond any expectations you could possibly have (except of course if you’re new to the line) and comes with an exciting amount of accessory for lots of interactive playtime.

Sideshow is spoiling us with the paint jobs they give their 12” figure line. Commander Bly is perfectly colored and decorated from head to toe. Mustard yellow has been used to color his thigh armor, utility belt and details on his helmet. And then the most perfect shade of brown has been used to paint on the stripe that runs up the center of the thighs, the chest stripe and the remaining details on his helmet. He is similarly designed to Sideshow’s recently released Captain Rex [CC-7567] (501st Legion: Torrent Company) 12 Inch Figure. Although the material of the kama is different, Bly still comes with the two DC-17 blaster pistol holsters and soft-goods details to make this feature as authentic as possible. The armor is strewn with carbon scoring marks from head to toe and there are plenty of scratches and dings and dents to show the scars of war. The eggshell colored armored is made dirty with a very fine final wash that picks up imperfections in the armor and it gathers believably in all the right nooks and crevices. You’ll be thoroughly impressed with what Sideshow Collectibles has accomplished the “artful” qualities of this sculpt. The way figure are decorated can make or break the final product and you’ll be happy to know that Commander Bly scores all high marks in this area.

In typical Sideshow fashion, Commander Bly is loaded with accessories. And again, this is something that is not really to our full liking. Where to store these multiple accessories while posing these figures on the shelf is a bit overwhelming and unsettling when space just becomes an issue each and every year we collect. You’ll probably house all the extra parts in the figure’s packaging because that is a place that will be great for safekeeping. We all know how accessories disappear left and right when they lay loose for too long. Commander Bly comes with three interchangeable head attachments. He comes with a human clone head with facial tattoos inspires from The Clone Wars television show. And then he comes with the complementary phase I helmet also from the television show. Both are sculpted beautifully and attach to the body of the 12 Inch Figure without issue. And lastly, you’ll be thrilled to find the phase II helmet from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. While it’s a brilliant sculpt, it has great difficulty attaching to the ball-socket joint. The width is a hair too long and the pauldron causes space issues. We learned that pulling down on the chest armor makes more room and helps with the assembly. Despite this, Commander Bly is undoubtedly one of the finest 12” figures Sideshow has ever done. You must get this one for your collection!
