Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb battles the military leader General Grievous. Vebb has just achieved the rank of Jedi Knight when he joins his former Master, Kit Fisto, on a mission to recapture escaped prisoner Nute Gunray. On the Vassek moon, Vebb and his comrades are lured into General Grievous' stronghold, where the brave yet impetuous Vebb faces the cyborg general in a fierce lightsaber duel.
One thing we truly love about The Clone Wars television series is the opportunity it provides for developing characters and the interaction of new characters with previously established ones. If it weren’t for Season 1 of The Clone Wars, we may have never discovered Kit Fisto’s Padawan, Nahdar Vebb, a truly loveable character in the series. Nahdar Vebb was a male Mon Calamari who was a Jedi Knight during the Clone Wars. Although he was a Jedi general by the time we saw him in Filoni’s The Clone Wars, it is still a powerfully cool back story that he developed his Jedi skills with another one of our favorite Jedi Masters, Kit Fisto. Someone at Hasbro must love the Mon Calamari species because in recent years they have seen one release after another in the Star Wars line. This ultimately is welcomed by us, but we wonder what the obsession is. As a peaceful and freedom-fighting species, the Mon Calamari are instantly adored by the fans and their good nature makes them that much more enjoyable. So it makes sense why fans clamored for Hasbro to make Nahdar Vebb. Thankfully Hasbro listened carefully to us and developed a truly wonderful action figure interpretation of him as a special mail-away exclusive figure.
And Nahdar Vebb’s demand even exceeded Hasbro’s expectations as they ran out of initial shipments of him. Thankfully they decided to meet demand and reordered another set of them so they could fulfill all requests. This speaks volumes to the demand of The Clone Wars line. Even Hasbro can’t project just how well mail-away figures will do for this best-selling line. So although the shipments that went out in April quickly disappeared, Hasbro was able to get the second batch out in November just in time for the holidays. Thank goodness they did because this is a figure that everyone should own. Nahdar Vebb really measures up as one of the better action figures in the line so far! Well, we’re impressed with him at least. We hope you’ll be too. Hasbro has designed him so well we really wish he had a fair chance at retail. We bet Hasbro could have moved a ton of units of him had he been included in the basic figure line. From an excellent likeness to a well designed frame, Nahdar Vebb is remarkably one beautiful action figure in the entire The Clone Wars line. To be honest, we’re quite exhausted of all the clones. So it’s refreshing to get a unique Jedi like Nahdar Vebb. But it’s important to note that he’s also very well made.
It may not be appropriate to refer to Vebb as cute, but he is. While he did some damage in the television show, he looks extremely friendly as an action figure. We are thoroughly impressed with the paint job Hasbro gave the figure, although we think they painted his spots too darkly on his head. The character has much softer lines and the spots subtly bleed into the rest of the markings. Still, Hasbro can only do so much with an action figure of this size. Hasbro has incorporated his chin dangler and it just makes the figure that much more authentic. He comes with a blue lightsaber and can hold it, although we found it can easily be knocked out of his right hand (as his left hand can’t hold it). His packaging turns into a 3-D display. We’re not huge fans of packaging backdrops, but we think it’s alright once in a while. We’d rather see a Jedi cloak or something else in its place. Nahdar Vebb has 12 points of articulation that work beautifully and give the collector many option to pose him. And although we think that he is a little bit too short for a Jedi Knight, he is nonetheless a welcomed addition to The Clone Wars line. Nahdar Vebb impresses and we are ecstatic about having him in our collection. We just wish we wasn't killed off in the same epsiode that he was introduced!
