Allied to former Magistrate of Calodan Morgan Elsbeth after the fall of the Empire, Baylan Skoll is a shrewd lightsaber-wielding mercenary for hire overseeing his apprentice Shin Hati.

Baylan Skoll is a primary character in the Disney+ Star Wars: Ahsoka series. This non-Jedi but lightsaber-wielding character has connections to Morgan Elsbeth and Shin Hati, who are also action figures in the 3.75-inch super-articulated Star Wars line. Together, they all look all right, but we feel there aren’t enough collectors to support a critically panned and relatively boring show when looking at the Star Wars timeline as a whole. Like anything produced under the Disney Star Wars banner, the show has a meager audience and an even smaller fan base. But this is the world we live in today. Hasbro will double down and produce action figures of characters no one likes, cares about, or probably knows. The sad thing is that Baylan Skoll is an interesting character. The figure Hasbro produced for The Vintage Collection is exquisite and a fine specimen for the fan-favorite collector line. This figure comes in a wave of action figures that are hit or miss for the collector base.

Baylan Skoll is an all-new action figure that follows in the footsteps of most other all-new figures in the basic figure line. With 28 points of articulation across 17 points of movement, the figure achieves most poses you want and holds them well. We noticed that Baylan Skoll has an ever-so-slight center of gravity issue. The boots aren’t flat, so the figure needs some tender-loving balancing to situate the various action poses for your shelf. The actor who plays Baylan Skoll is a middle-aged man, and Hasbro magically worked at an appropriate age in the figure’s likeness. They achieved this through the Photo Real application. Not many of us believed that action figure-making would be where it is today. Still, we’re thankful that Hasbro produced so many beautiful action figures in the original scale, and now they’re rivaling the likenesses and quality of The Black Series 6-inch lineup. Baylan Skoll looks fantastic, and we’re sure you will be eager to add it to your collection.

The Baylan Skoll action figure has a very dark palette of color. Aside from some translucent or pearly deco worked into the chest armor and gauntlets, there isn’t too much fine detail visible on this action figure’s costume. Again, the figure’s portrait looks outstanding and beautifully captures the actor’s likeness. And the remarkable amount of articulation isn’t obvious thanks to the way Hasbro works it into the figure in a demure fashion. They know how to hide joints well. And that’s a critical detail to master. They master this exceptionally well. Baylan Skoll has a long skirt, but the hip articulation is not inhibited because of the proper cuts Hasbro added. The accessories for Baylan Skoll are a bit light, but we got a hilt with a plug to set it in the figure belt. Then, we get a fully lit orangey-red lightsaber with a long blade that interacts perfectly with the figure. The figure’s character photo looks good, but we wonder if there were better sources Hasbro could have pulled one from that provided a better angle of the character. Still, the figure looks excellent regardless.
