The fantastic but egregiously overpriced Sabine Wren & Chopper (C1-10P) is a long-awaited welcomed addition to The Vintage Collection lineup. Whenever collectors can get more individually carded action figures added to the basic figure, we usually don’t care how Hasbro does it. But it begs to ask them why they couldn’t have incorporated these figures into the latest case assortment. Why must they charge $25.00 per figure through the multipack format? Something is rotten in Denmark here. That said, collectors should be thrilled to add both Sabine Wren and Chopper (C1-10P) based on their appearance in Star Wars: Rebels. Sabine Wren is remarkably all-new, and Hasbro faithfully recreated the character’s colorful outfit and hairstyle well. Chopper (C1-10P) is just a repaint here, but it’s excellent to have the coloring based on the animated series. The packaging of the Sabine Wren & Chopper (C1-10P) set is decent. The photography is weak, as usual, but it is colorful and bright and captures the fun spirit of the Star Wars: Rebels television show well. With new accessories and features, this two-pack of figures is exclusive to Hasbro Pulse and has quickly sold out. We’re waiting to see if more stock is on the way. The pre-order process for this set was unique. Collectors could order a maximum of five units each; after that, no one could order additional units.
Sabine Wren looks like the first figure Hasbro released as a Deluxe figure. But when you compare the figures, you’ll see that Sabine Wren is all-new and has better features and proportions than the first release. The figure comes with a remarkable 27 points of articulation. The action figure achieves whichever pose you want and holds its center of gravity balanced in some aggressive poses. What you can achieve here is astounding, and that’s all because Hasbro produces remarkable action figures that are masterpieces in their long line of action figure-making. Of course, Sabine Wren has a stunning articulation system, but the figure’s paint operations are second to none. All of us know how colorful Sabine Wren’s outfits are, and Hasbro did a brilliant job of capturing the blending of colors well. The head sculpt is beautiful, and we prefer this version of Sabine Wren to the version that appears in Ahsoka. The Photo Real deco looks terrific, and we cannot believe how lifelike these miniature portraits look from this Hasbro-created paint application. Hasbro also gave us two Mandalorian blasters, each with a different colored trim. The left blaster pistol has yellow highlights, and the right blaster pistol has blue highlights. They also include a removable jetpack with flame attachment and a wrist gauntlet energy effect.
Chopper (C1-10P) action figure is another long-awaited release., as far as the character’s appearance from Star Wars: Rebels is concerned. Chopper (C1-10P) is a repaint of the previous release based on Ahsoka. We’re still most impressed with the ball-socket dome. You can cock Chopper’s head in a variety of positions which emulates the character’s personality, attitude, response, and quirks beautifully. And, if you’re looking for a less animated pose, you can rest the dome evenly along the rim of the body; however, the dome floats directly above it, and you’ll see the black inner workings slightly. Chopper’s two dome arms swivel but don’t move up and down, much to our chagrin. The paint operations are generally beautiful on this action figure. We found a couple of instances of poorly applied paint, but overall, you’ll be satisfied with what the factory achieved on this figure. Hasbro included an alternate antenna and two Loth-cats with Chopper. It seems as if that’s all that’s needed there. What sets Sabine Wren and Chopper (C1-10P) apart from other characters in the line is the exclusive “mural” packaging. Each character features stunning artwork of the character, and these will fit alongside the exclusive figures packed with The Ghost. Still, the price for these two figures feels painful, and we hope that Hasbro finds ways to help collectors save money in this hobby. Regardless, this is a solid set of action figures.
