Mandalorian Fleet Commander - TVC - Basic (VC314)

Is anyone else sick and tired of Mandalorian action figures? Hasn’t Hasbro produced enough of them at this point? With so many unfinished characters yet to be released, Hasbro must focus on other things before the attention span of the collecting community drifts into oblivion. The Mandalorian Fleet Commander was an expected release for The Vintage Collection. And to Hasbro’s credit, they produce figures for The Vintage Collection that they’ve made for The Black Series 6-inch figure line closer to 1:1 than previously, which has been a blessing for 3.75-inch Star Wars collectors. It’s not that all of them wanted the Mandalorian Fleet Commander character. But at least we have it since 6-inch collectors have it now. Hasbro created a faithful interpretation of this character on a 3.75-inch scale, which turned out better than anticipated. This Jango Fett lookalike isn’t an earth-shattering release but a decent addition to the lineup.

The Mandalorian Fleet Commander shares some parts with past action figures from The Vintage Collection, but there is also a lot of newness here. Like the Deluxe Jango Fett, Hasbro included an alternate helmeted portrait for the Mandalorian Fleet Commander figure. This additional tooling makes us all question why Jango Fett was a Deluxe figure for a lot more money when this figure has all of the same features for the cost of a standard basic action figure. The human portrait looks like the actor very much. The character is seemingly unidentified in The Mandalorian, so it’s interesting that there is some secrecy behind this character. Or perhaps there is a story arc to tell us more about this character. The figure’s articulation is excellent, and it comes with meaningful movement that allows you to position the figure as needed in your collection. The joints are tight, and the action figure holds poses well. You’re going to have a lot of fun with this figure.

The Mandalorian Fleet Commander has a removable jetpack that plugs tightly into the figure’s back. We also get a single Mandalorian blaster that the action figure manages to hold, but not too well. And, of course, we get two different portraits to use based on the needs of our display. What’s nice about the helmeted portrait is that it comes with an articulated rangefinder. The Mandalorian Fleet Commander figure can use it as an accessory for alternate display. The paint operations on the Mandalorian Fleet Commander are excellent. Hasbro employed a gorgeous Photo Real application in the face. But the rest of the figure is beautiful as well. Hasbro found a metallic light blue to accent the figure, and they did a remarkable job coloring the figure to be faithful to The Mandalorian Disney+ series. We’re not jumping for joy over this action figure; multiple collectors wanted it. We hope they get their wishes so Hasbro can get back to focusing on George Lucas’s Star Wars characters instead.
