Force Spirits (Anakin Skywalker/Yoda/Obi-Wan Kenobi) - TBS [ROTJ40] - Six Inch Figures (Exclusive)

In 1998, Hasbro produced the Jedi Spirits Cinema Scenes set in The Power Of The Force "2" [FlashBack/CommTech] line to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Return Of The Jedi. The set served its purpose at the time but didn't meet anyone's expectations as significant action figures because most were solid sculpts with little to no movement. Here we are a quarter of a century later, and we're not celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Return Of The Jedi, but this time in The Black Series 6-inch line focusing on collectibles based on scenes from Episode VI. Now called Force Spirits (Anakin Skywalker/Yoda/Obi-Wan Kenobi), this Shop Disney exclusive multipack features three action figures based on the Return Of The Jedi Special Edition film's ending scene where we see all three Force ghosts join together along the railing of Bright Tree Village. The Black Series [Return Of The Jedi 40] multipacks are interesting. Inside, we receive three separately carded 6-inch action figures that feature reworked composited artwork based on the scene from the film. Hasbro cast each figure in translucent colorful plastic to help recreate the "ghost effect" these characters have in the scene. There is some newness here, which you might find interesting, but overall, most of this multipack is rehashed.

Anakin Skywalker (Force Spirit) has the most newness here. Hasbro took the arms and legs of 2019's TBS [P3] Mace Windu (82) figure along with an all-new portrait, torso, and lower skirt. The soft-goods sheet cloak is also new as it's bigger than Obi-Wan Kenobi's and covers the more extensive Anakin Skywalker body tooling as needed. Remarkably, Anakin Skywalker comes with a stunning all-new head sculpt. It would behoove Hasbro to produce an all-new Anakin Skywalker action figure, circa Revenge Of The Sith, to maximize the use of the new tooling. The torso is also unique and complements the reused arms and legs nicely. Anakin Skywalker towers over Obi-Wan Kenobi admirably; overall, this action figure turned out well. It's a shame Hasbro didn't complete a realistically-styled version of Anakin Skywalker first. Yoda (Force Spirit) is another surprise in this multipack. Hasbro used the figure from 2020's TBS [P3] Luke Skywalker & Yoda (Jedi Training) Deluxe set and cast it in translucent plastic as well, and it's about half the size of the awful 2019 TBS [P3] Yoda (Force Spirit) Walgreens exclusive figure. What were they thinking when they produced that Yoda action figure? What a horror it is today. Yoda comes with a removable sheet soft-goods cloak OVER the removable belt (an error here), gimer stick, and flute.

The final figure in this set, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit), is a repaint of the original release of this character. They took 2017's TBS [P3] Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit) Walgreens exclusive figure, tweaked some coloring, and re-released it here. We shouldn't have expected Hasbro to take any direction other than a repaint with this figure, so the included figure is acceptable as it is. Obi-Wan Kenobi comes with a removable sheet robe that only fits around the figure's body well. It's loose in some spots and tight in other places. We appreciate the separately carded packaging very much here. Hasbro took some liberties with the graphics, however. They doctored up the images as they're not stills from the film. They look fantastic in front of the Endor background and gorgeous in the three-pack outer box. Relegated to a Shop Disney exclusive, the set has an MSRP of 77.99, which is not egregious for three figures but not a bargain. Hasbro has yet to produce many multipacks of 6-inch figures where each is separately carded. We must admit that the packaging looks fantastic this way. Still, we would have much rather seen these figures get individual releases in various case assortments of The Black Series figures. Admittedly, this is one of the more excellent products to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Return Of The Jedi.
