Wow, the Darth Revan wave of figures is beyond impressive, even if you don't care about the source material from which they came. Darth Revan. General Hera Syndulla. Chopper. Pre Vizsla. And a corrected R5-D4. That is a remarkable collection of action figures. It's challenging for Chopper to remove the spotlight from Darth Revan, but it comes close. The all-new Chopper (C1-10P) action figure is a long-awaited release. Hasbro gave us a pitiful version of this character in the Rebels toy line as C1-10P ("Chopper"), but it only had a couple of points of articulation and needed more detail. Then, the Disney Droid Factory line developed C1-10P "CHOPPER," a notably upgraded version with more articulation, interchangeability, and additional parts. And if we're honest, that version held up well throughout the years. Now, we have Chopper (C1-10P) based on the Star Wars: Ahsoka series, and while it has a different paint scheme than the version of the character from Star Wars: Rebels, it's a magnificent upgrade, and we know collectors of The Vintage Collection will adore this action figure. Seeing all 3.75-inch super-articulated action figures added to The Vintage Collection, no matter their source, is lovely. Still, when it's a universally appreciated character like Chopper, it makes this all the better.
As mentioned, Chopper (C1-10P) is an all-new action figure. Hasbro worked more articulation into this figure than we have seen on past versions by both Hasbro and Disney. We're most impressed with the ball-socket dome. You can cock Chopper's head in a variety of positions which emulates the character's personality, attitude, response, and quirks beautifully. And, if you're looking for a less animated pose, you can rest the dome evenly along the rim of the body; however, the dome floats directly above it, and you'll see the black inner workings slightly. Chopper's two dome arms swivel but don't move up and down, much to our chagrin. If we had asked for one design that made it to The Black Series [Phase III] Chopper (C1-10P) (84) figure, it would be arms that fold up into the dome when not in use. Unfortunately, The Vintage Collection figure doesn't have this crucial feature. The paint operations are generally beautiful on this action figure. We found a couple of instances of poorly applied paint, but overall, you'll be satisfied with what the factory achieved on this figure. In addition to the dome movement, the arms on the dome swivel, and both legs swivel. There is also an articulated utility arm that swings out from the body.
We're not overly impressed with Chopper's accessories. We would have loved to see all of the stuff that came with the 6-inch version follow The Vintage Collection release, but that didn't happen. However, this version has a removable third leg. It breaks down into a post and a wheel, two separate pieces interconnecting. Hasbro also included an alternate antenna. We're still determining if it's battle-damaged or in use, but it has a different shape than the standard antenna. The most unique accessory added to this release is the tracking device. It's a tiny disc with a yellow center, and we struggled to pick it up and place it into Chopper's arm. It has a decent amount of detail for such a tiny accessory, so we appreciate Hasbro putting so much forethought into it. Chopper (C1-10P) looks excellent with all of the included gear. We wish there were more things for the droid to interact with here, but we will have to rely on additional action figures in The Vintage Collection to do this. Then there is the argument if Chopper (C1-10P) is worth the standard MSRP as a full-sized action figure. We feel it is. But that means that Hasbro must also include LARGE characters in this format.
