Bib Fortuna [Return Of The Jedi 40] - TBS [AC] - Six Inch Figures

When Hasbro released 2022’s TBS [P4] Bib Fortuna (ROTJ08) figure, collectors immediately noticed that the figure came with too much blue wash. Hasbro remedied that for the Anniversary Collection line; frankly, the figure hasn’t looked better. Hasbro knows a character like Bib Fortuna will require all-new tooling, but they decided to see where to reuse existing parts to complete the figure. Bib Fortuna [Return Of The Jedi 40] is a kit-bashed figure that utilizes the legs of 2019’s TBS [P3] Dryden Vos (79) figure, yet the rest of Bib Fortuna is all-new. With the long molded robes included with Bib Fortuna, you won’t make out the legs that quickly, and that’s the point. Caset in teal blue plastic, they’re nearly unrecognizable now. There is no need to reinvent the wheel when excellent tooling exists and then incorporated into “new” action figures. Hasbro needs to watch its bottom line, so this is an ideal way to bring new characters into the line without sacrificing the tooling budget.

Bib Fortuna [Return Of The Jedi 40] comes with an excellent portrait, and we now know that it’s a fantastic sculpt, thanks to the revised paint operations. The overall likeness is remarkable. This likeness perfectly captures Bib Fortuna, Jabba the Hutt’s majordomo from Return Of The Jedi. The deco is stunning. Hasbro faintly accented Bib Fortuna’s pale pink skin with an aqua-colored wash here and there. However, this time, the pinkish skin color is more prominent. The revised skin color helps the rest of the outfit look better. And we also see revisions in the outfit. Once again, the most impressive detail here is Bib Fortuna’s hands. Hasbro gorgeously sculpted the long fingernails to make them look like they were summoning someone. Yet, they were also functional enough to hold the three drinking glass accessories included with the figure. Bib Fortuna [Return Of The Jedi 40] comes with a molded robe, and Hasbro chose a beautiful color to form it. Unfortunately, it immobilizes the figure even with the cut-outs for the arms. Collectors can use the plugs designed inside to close the cloak when needed. It looks fantastic, but it’s not a functional piece of clothing.

We’re disappointed with the accessories Hasbro decided to include with Bib Fortuna [Return Of The Jedi 40]. The three unique drinking glasses are nice, but where are the legacy-inspired accessories that came with Bib Fortuna action figures of yesteryear? We’d love to see these figures include a “hold out” blaster, a dagger, or the vintage Kenner staff. Why isn’t Hasbro thoughtful about these things with the longtime collecting community? Ignoring these larger-than-life/urban legend inclusions doesn’t seem right because they’d make the action figure much more enjoyable. But despite our disappointment in what Hasbro DID NOT include here, we are genuinely happy about what they DID add. When displayed on your shelf, Bib Fortuna [Return Of The Jedi 40] is a nice-looking action figure. But you’ll probably want to keep the Return Of The Jedi 40 version in the package because the Kenner-inspired line look is the selling point here. Hasbro has A LOT of work to start checking off the list of all those aliens from Return Of The Jedi, but figures like Bib Fortuna [Return Of The Jedi 40] are a great start.
