When complications arise in the delivery of Han Solo frozen in carbonite to Jabba the Hutt, Boba Fett must strike a deal with Doc Ragon to ensure Han makes it to Tatooine in one piece. As payment, Doc asks Fett to kill a local fighting pit warrior - Wyrmen Lictor. Fett must disguise himself with nano-spray paint so he can enter the fighting arena and kill Lictor without suffering the repercussions of his task by being recognized.

If you read the bio to the character of Boba Fett (In Disguise), it’s an instant snooze-fest, nearly insufferable to fathom. However, the horrific writing of Disney Star Wars won’t steal the joy away from some slickly repainted action figures. We couldn’t tell you anything about the “War Of The Bounty Hunters” comics. It looks dreadful, but the artwork shines. And Hasbro felt that enough 6-inch Star Wars collectors are supporting the comics to warrant the production of a new iteration of Boba Fett, in all-black, to add to their popular “Publishing Program” sub-line. Admittedly, we adore the Boba Fett (In Disguise) action figure. There is something remarkable about approaching this long-living bounty hunter in all-black gear. And with the coloring and included accessories, Boba Fett (In Disguise) comes across like a Knight Of Ren from Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker. The figure comes packaged in a comic book-esque box and is expensive. It’s unreal that a single 6-inch figure utilizing tooling from 2013 is commanding $34. It’s a sin. It’s obscene, and Hasbro is pissing off the longtime collectors supporting the line, or perhaps more accurately, walking away from the madness.

Boba Fett (In Disguise) is a lovely addition to The Black Series 6-inch line. But how much higher will the figures rise in price before they’re unaffordable for most remaining collectors? Let’s take a closer look at this curious action figure, and see if you think it will do well with collectors despite its setbacks. Visiting a new version of Boba Fett in the action figure line is always exciting. The latest Hasbro team appears to be picking up on this fact. But getting an all-black Boba Fett action figure is quite a sight to behold, and you’ll get instant gratification from what it brings to the line. We love this figure so much that we hope that Hasbro develops one for The Vintage Collection. Hasbro cast the figure in black plastic, and we cannot find distinct paint operations included here. So, we have a good-looking action figure that aesthetically isn’t entirely accurate to the character in the comics, but overall, it passes our stringent standards. It’s based on Boba Fett’s appearance from The War Of The Bounty Hunters. Again, the synopsis is so stupid and boring we won’t waste your time rehashing it. We’re happy it doesn’t affect our enjoyment of the action figure. Hasbro didn’t include the sawed-off blaster rifle here but added a staff, which is reminiscent of something the Knights Of Ren use.

The tooling here is nearing ten years old at this point. We have no issues with them trying to amortize costs and reuse designs already in their repertoire. But why can’t they tweak things in the slightest to make these figures unique to one another and to help with the figure’s screen accuracy? They could also tweak the crinkles in the pants to give the sculpture a new, unique take instead of releasing a carbon copy of the original figure. But they didn’t do a blessed thing to update Boba Fett (In Disguise). It’s a shame we’re getting used to this. And as happy as we are to have the figure, we must admit their lack of trying is deflating and frustrating. But, no matter your feelings, this is a gorgeous action figure. We are delighted to have it. We want to address the price again here. How does a single 6-inch figure cost $33.99? It’s mind-boggling and doesn’t do anything to build resentment in collectors toward Hasbro. These figures are no longer affordable, and Hasbro needs to change its current plans to get Star Wars collecting a thing that everyone can do. Boba Fett (In Disguise) is a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. And once again, it’s a cool-looking action figure, but there isn’t enough newness included to swallow that awful MSRP.
