Figrin D'an was the rocking frontman for the all-Bith band "The Modal Nodes." His deft playing of the Kloo Horn for the band earned him he nickname "Fiery" Figrin.

It’s remarkable how long it takes Hasbro to consider a Bith musician for the basic figure line periodically. The characters weren’t on Kenner’s radar at all, and it wasn’t until a few years into The Power Of The Force “2” before they produced the first Figrin D’an action figure as a mail-away exclusive. Now, after a decade and a half, the Bith are in Hasbro’s line of sight, and a figure for The Black Series 6-inch line and the 3.75-inch The Vintage Collection line are each part of the 2022 lineup, and both are exciting fans to the Original Trilogy love once again. We’ll tell you “straight up” that The Black Series 6-inch Figrin D’an action figure is a plaything of beauty. Hasbro did an excellent job sculpting and detailing this classic Star Wars character. It appears that Hasbro paid close attention to the reference materials to develop a painstakingly accurate action figure of the Bith species. However, the figure loses something in translation with its functionality. While the figure has excellent articulation, the joints don’t bend in a way to easily have the figure hold the instruments while playing them. It’s a bit frustrating, although certainly not a dealbreaker.

From the bulbous head to the pointy shoes, Hasbro faithfully recreated this musician, and we believe it will be one of the highlights in the line for years to come. However, we want to point out a few crucial details Hasbro missed. On a 6-inch action figure, Hasbro should be able to capture additional details that they miss on the 3.75-inch action figures. For some reason, they didn’t go into enough accentuation with warts on the head. They are barely noticeable, and on the costume, thy had a notably different texture and color. We wish Hasbro would have painted a little more closely with this detail. Hasbro gave the action figure a mostly-smooth complexion, and they missed some of the colors. More critical, Hasbro missed the blue ring inside the dark soulless black eyes. Looking at the Sideshow Collectibles Figrin D’an Life-Size Bust, you can see all these essential and distinguishing details. But where they made a few shortcuts, they more than made up for it thanks to the costume. The Bith have athletic bodies and wear fitted costumes. Hasbro did an excellent job from the liturgical collar to the '60s-era style pants. Hasbro did a fantastic job here overall.

It doesn’t appear that Hasbro will individually release all of the members of The Modal Nodes. They’ve included all required instruments amongst the Deluxe Nalan Cheel and Figrin D’an basic figure. Although Hasbro included Figrin D’an’s kloo horn, Hasbro also added Doikk Na’ts’ dorenian beshniquel and Tedn Dahai’s fanfar. So, what about the figure’s functionality with the accessories? Admittedly, we’re a little bit disappointed. It’s not that the figure can’t hold them because it can. It’s because we had difficulty recreating lifelike postures while holding and playing the instruments, and we found that frustrating. You can perform some tricks to recreate natural poses with the instruments, but we wish there were more flexibility in the joints to allow for more natural poses. You’ll find how limiting the arms are on the Figrin D’an action figure. We see this as a bit disappointing. Overall, we believe that Figrin D’an will quickly become a beloved action figure in your 6-inch collection. And we’re delighted to see Hasbro focus on Original Trilogy characters because they’re desperately needed for the basic figure line. More cantina aliens, please, Hasbro!
