It’s a “Mauldalorian”! The Clone Wars left an indelible mark on most of those who watched and enjoyed the series. And with the back and forth the 3.75-inch line went through before Hasbro brought back The Vintage Collection, many characters that collectors wanted to see Hasbro produce got lost in the shuffle, especially characters from the later series. Hasbro is now doing its best to play catch-up with the long list of characters the brand avoided over the last decade, and perhaps making us wait too long has paid off in the long run. Hasbro is producing its best 3.75-inch action figures to date. Adding the Mandalorian Super Commando, also known as Mandalorian Traditionalist, to the lineup only reinforces how far the line has come. It also reassures collectors that they haven’t forgotten us regarding The Clone Wars. Yes, there is a lot of work they need to do to get some critical characters out into the line, but they’re coming in dribs and drabs, and we’re happy to see the fruits of their labor, even if it’s a slower pace than our patience can handle. Not only did the Mandalorian Super Commando beat the 6-inch version’s release, we already know the Mandalorian Super Commando Captain is right around the corner, so we’ll have the set soon enough.

While we do see some reuse of parts on the Mandalorian Super Commando action figure, we’re, for now, going to assess this figure as all-new. The arms look reused from The Mandalorian action figure, but we also see enough newness to designate the entire figure as all-new. The Mandalorian Super Commando is a very streamlined action figure. The action figure is athletic, well-armored, and has a decent amount of accessories to make everyone happy. The jetpack is removable, and then Hasbro also included a blaster rifle and two blaster pistols, which fit into the molded holsters on the figure’s thighs. The weapons and the jetpack have simple paint jobs and look unfinished in many ways. But Hasbro makes up for it more than expected with the paint operations applied to the action figure. The Mandalorian Super Commando has stunning deco. We honestly don’t know where to begin explaining it. From the handprint-like design on the helmet to the red color flashes on the chest and shoulder armor, Hasbro planned out how this finished figure would look, exceeding our expectations. Whoever is in charge of the final appearance of the 3.75-inch action figure line should get promoted because they know what it takes to make quality products.

But perhaps better than the deco is the figure’s articulation system. Mandalorian Super Commando comes with the updated ball-socket hip joints. These newer joints function incredibly better than the ball-jointed hips that were common up until this change. The rest of the figure has ball-jointed movement throughout, and the portrait comes with the barbell joints creating two spheres of 360-degree movement. The figure interacts with its weapons well, has excellent articulation, and looks beautiful, thanks to Hasbro’s outstanding design. What more do you want here? The character’s backstory is equally interesting as the action figure. When Pre Vizsla’s organization got split, some supporters went with Bo-Katan Kryze, and the others sided with Darth Maul. When civil war broke out on Mandalore, Darth Maul’s super commandos updated their armor to reflect their new alignment. We understand that The Vintage Collection is an expensive line, and those interested cannot afford the high price of these adult collectibles. But we believe that if you can find a way to budget these high-quality action figures, they will agree that these are some of Hasbro’s best efforts. We believe that if Hasbro keeps introducing more and more characters from the same Star Wars source, the interest will only grow.
