Once regarded as one of the most fearsome and capable bounty hunters in the galaxy, Boba Fett seemingly met his demise in the Sarlacc pit on Tatooine. A survivor to his core, Fett lived to fight another day.
We saved the best for last when reviewing The Black Series [Phase IV] sixth wave of 6-inch action figures: Boba Fett (Tython) is another fantastic release in the 6-inch line. After Boba Fett pulled himself out of the Sarlacc Pit, he essentially was almost dead. He was in such a state that the Jawas stripped him of his armor. A while later, the Tusken Raiders rescued him, and Star Wars fans soon learned the varying aggression levels that exist in the tribes in the Tusken Raider migratory species. Needing something to wear and arm himself with, Boba Fett’s time with the Tusken Raiders is where he received the robe, sniper rifle, and gaderffi stick (and other weapons). Before Boba Fett got his armor back, he traveled with Fennec Shand to Jabba’s Palace on Tatooine to “steal back” the Slave I. And in the interim, Din Djarin confiscated the armor Cobb Vanth purchased from the Jawas and explained it wasn’t his. Boba Fett then flew to Tython, where Din Djarin was, and helped him fight off the Imperials attempting to steal Grogu. After a slight disagreement, Boba Fett explained to Din Djarin that he could prove the armor belonged to him, so he then showed the lineage proof to Din Djarin. The armor was finally returned to Boba Fett. And now everyone is up to speed with the Boba Fett (Tython) 6-inch action figure. A highlight of the wave, Boba Fett (Tython), is evidence of what Hasbro should always strive for in the basic The Black Series line.
The Boba Fett (Tython) figure is excellent. Hasbro beautifully captured the aged appearance of actor Temura Morrison, although we don’t think that the character of Boba Fett would believably be that old after escaping the Sarlacc Pit. The figure contains all-new tooling, and the portrait is striking to us. Like the on-screen character, Boba Fett (Tython) has many scars on the face and some skin issues that Hasbro did their best to add to the figure’s head sculpt. The skin color also looks accurate to us. We also must point out the soft-goods robe. If you carefully look at the edges, you’ll see that Hasbro cut a frayed pattern into the fabric, and it is a perfect match to the costume seen in The Mandalorian Disney+ series. It’s pretty impressive that they paid that close attention to the outfit, in our opinion. It’s a near-perfect match. The robe also has a hood, and while it does look a little too big and bulky for the figure’s head, a little futzing will get it into the form you want, and it’s possible to minimize its extra-large fitting. The robe is easily removable, and once removed, you’ll find a miniature work of art underneath it. You’ll see the many elements of the Tusken Raider haberdashery on the luxurious fabrics and stylings of the nomadic tribe. The figure has lower robes, but they’re flexible, and we didn’t encounter any issue with posing the figure in various ways, including kneeling and “running.” The figure comes with an impressive 30 points of articulation so that you can expect ease with posing.
Boba Fett (Tython) is well accessorized. We counted five separate parts, so this count means it comes with more accessories than many of their Deluxe figures, and Hasbro should feel shame for this reality. You know about the soft-goods robe, but it’s not an accessory you should easily disregard. They developed a gaderffi stick accessory with a tied cord on both ends, which Hasbro made from actual string. They included a Tusken Raider sniper rifle, and Boba Fett (Tython) holds it excellently. It comes with a molded strap that is removable. It slips over each end of the sniper rifle. Lastly, we get a double-barreled blaster. It fits into the functioning holster tooled onto the figure’s belt. Boba Fett (Tython) interacts wonderfully with all of its accessories. Getting multiple accessories always enhances the value and play features of action figures. Hasbro must make multiple accessories a standard in The Black Series and The Vintage Collection lines because they excellently supplement the figures. Sometimes characters don’t come with accessories, and that’s alright with us. When characters don’t interact with anything, that will help their budget give other characters more accessories when required. Boba Fett (Tython) will be a highly sought-after action figure. But expect Hasbro to be aware of its popularity and anticipate it going up for order again because it will take some time to meet demand. We hope the version with Boba Fett’s armor looks as good as this one!
