A brawny warrior encased in the strongest beskar armor, Paz Vizsla is part of a secret enclave of his people.

Don’t you feel like exclaiming “There’s too many of them!” when it comes to the “Carbonized” repaints? One wave of a wave split amongst various retailers is fine. But when retailers are getting upwards of three variants each, the search and hunt and pre-order statuses begin becoming overwhelming. One slightly surprising addition to the Carbonized sub-line is Paz Vizsla, who, at the time of its original release, didn’t have a proper name. This figure is the first release to designate the character as “Paz Vizsla.” The figure is nice. But aside from some glimmer paint operations, it doesn’t vary all that much from the regular version. The figure is still bulky, and comes with a massive weapon that is as cool as it is functional for the action figure. The character is thicker than the standard Mandalorians we’ve seen represented in the Star Wars universe thus far, but we don’t find it abnormally large or out of place when compared to the rest. Hasbro designed this all-new figure and initially called it the Heavy Infantry Mandalorian, and made it a Best Buy exclusive. Now, the Paz Vizsla (Carbonized) figure is a Target exclusive. You know how we feel about Hasbro’s “Deluxe” figures. Setting their MSRP at $29.99 is pulling the wool over the eyes of collectors who have supported the 6-inch line from the beginning. There is NO WAY Hasbro can justify charging $10 more for this character. But we won’t go down that rabbit hole any further.

Paz Vizsla's character was designed by Brian Matyas, and he worked many existing and new features into the character. He included heavy Mandalorian armor made of beskar with blue color and a mythosaur skull emblem on his left shoulder armor. The Heavy Infantry Mandalorian also wore a jetpack and carried a heavy blaster cannon. He has additional gear in the television series, but Hasbro opted to exclude the extra pieces for both the Best Buy exclusive as well as the Target exclusive releases. And it feels like salt in the wound here. Where is the vibroblade? Where is the cape? Doesn't the extra $10 cover anything.... extra here? Despite its lack of accessories, Paz Vizsla (Carbonized) is a nice-looking and colorful figure, It is well-designed and that should impress collectors of the 6-inch line and, more importantly, fans of the television series. Produced with the standard articulation of the other action figures in the line, Hasbro worked in a wide array of movement that is as functional as it is hidden on this impressive action figure. Despite the chunkier proportions, the Paz Vizsla (Carbonized) achieves some incredibly flexible poses thanks to a well-configured articulation system. The paint operations are fantastically applied here. We understand that “Carbonized” is a gimmick to sell the same figure again, but admittedly, the figure has a gorgeous paint job. Hasbro maintained the same color families as the original release, but you will find significant differences between the two action figures.

Despite how nice the figure is, we aren’t able to overlook the $36.99 price point here at all. It feels criminal. Had they included at least two more accessories, we might have overlooked the overcharge. Hasbro did include some important accessories with the Paz Vizsla (Carbonized) figure. They added a realistic jetpack that has some functionality added into it. The bottom of the jetpack welcomes the ammo belt from the heavy blaster cannon, and it attaches to it to keep it in place. This ammo belt also attaches to the gun, but we haven’t been successful removing it from there. It looks like it should be interchangeable, but again, we’ve had no success removing it. Paz Vizsla (Carbonized) holds the heavy blaster cannon with two hands STUNNINGLY well. Hasbro added two handles to the gun that are designed to interact with the hands they tooled for the figure perfectly. The realism here is impressive. Collectors are going to love what Hasbro worked into this figure. Hasbro also added a separately sculpted “fuel line hose” that attaches from the jet pack to the left arm gauntlet that also has a blaster attached to it. The figure still has wonderful mobility despite them attaching to multiple moving parts. Overall, if you’re not into repaints, Paz Vizsla (Carbonized) isn’t for you. But if you can appreciate the artful aspects of action figures, this is right up your alley. One again, we hope that a version of this character is released in The Vintage Collection. But Hasbro will probably make it a “Deluxe” figure in that line too.
