This distinctive collection features premium deco applications inspired by the end credit images from The Mandalorian, plus a collectible Galactic Credit accessory. After the fall of the Galactic Empire, usage of their form of money, Imperial Credits, became less common, with many planets refusing payments in the currency on principle.
The Black Series “Credit Collection” is back again for 2022, and the colorful arrangement of action figures is something that collectors seemingly love or loathe. With supply chain delays and issues, products from Hasbro are arriving all over the map. But in January 2022, they managed to get a plethora of products from The Vintage Collection and The Black Series lines, which is a relief for most collectors. The Armorer, from the Credit Collection, is the next colorful character based on concept art from The Mandalorian. The figure is brighter than the artwork, but that’s the whole point of this line. Hasbro loves to repaint their action figures, so we can probably expect another wave of Credit Collection action figures sometime in the future. Based on the ending credits artwork they show after every episode, The Armorer “Credit Collection” action figure offers collectors an artistic take at a favorite character from the Disney+ series. We can’t help but notice the feminine colors chosen for this character. And with other colorful detail throughout the rest of the figure, you can’t help but be reminded of previous Star Wars action figures based on concept art, like the Ralph McQuarrie figures. Many 6-inch collectors complain about the constant repaints in the line of late, but we have to confess that we now find charm in these action figures. Still, Hasbro needs to maintain balance.
The Armorer is a character that plays a crucial role in the series. She develops the armor, not unlike a blacksmith, for The Mandalorian (Din Djarin) and is working under Imperial control (until she can’t take it any longer). We soon find out this warrior has some incredible secrets hidden away, and then out of the blue, takes on multiple Imperial Stormtroopers at once with great success when provoked. We know she is devoted to Mandalorian culture. And we know she has an exciting relationship with the main character of the series. Hasbro introduced the first action figure of this character as an exclusive for The Black Series line. The Armorer entered The Black Series [Phase IV] line with deluxe packaging and other accessories. That first figure also came with a soft-goods faux fur cape. With the standard articulation of most Hasbro toy line figures, The Armorer isn’t much different from other figures. Specifically, The Armorer comes with the enhanced articulation system introduced with the Rebel Trooper (69) figure a few years ago. It comes with a finely designed costume. There are many ridges, creases, wrinkles, and textures in The Armorer’s attire. And the figure seems well protected against the hot embers the character uses to develop the Mandalorian culture’s various armor and weaponry.
The figure comes with a torch and graspers. The action figures hold them all well in both hands. Again, Hasbro knows how to design action figures well, and this release is no exception. The cape is removable on this release as well. But what stands out the most for the “Credit Collection” version is the paint operations. The helmet has a dual-tone, almost as if the character is a two-face. The mauve torso is joined by burgundy limbs highlighted and accented with red rings. It’s interesting to see this artistic take on the character, and once again, we’re happy to add this stylistic action figure into our collections. But if you’re tired of the repaints, this may be one figure that you’ll easily bypass for your collection. Reserved as an exclusive for GameStop, the figure has an MSRP set at $24.99. The figure went up for pre-order eons before its official release, which is a growing problem for the Hasbro Star Wars line. Hasbro is forever playing catch-up in both scales. They need to perhaps slow things down until things begin getting caught up. We’re happy to see The Armorer “Credit Collection” figure added to The Black Series 6-inch lineup. Your mileage may vary. But we also understand those who have fatigue with this line of figures. It’s time for the 6-inch line to return to newness. But collectors also need to accept that repaints and retools will always be part of the equation.
Status: The Armorer is a repaint of 2020's TBS [P4] The Armorer (TM04) figure. This time the figure has received a "concept art" styled paint job.
