This distinctive collection features premium deco applications inspired by the end credit images from The Mandalorian, plus a collectible Galactic Credit accessory. After the fall of the Galactic Empire, usage of their form of money, Imperial Credits, became less common, with many planets refusing payments in the currency on principle.
The Black Series “Credit Collection” is back again for 2021, and the colorful arrangement of action figures is something that collectors either love or loathe. There seems to be no in-between here. The first release out for the year is the Amazon exclusive The Mandalorian, but this time it’s the “Beskar” armor version, not the standard costume from the earliest stories in the Disney+ series. Admittedly, we prefer this version of The Mandalorian to the previous version. Based on the ending credits artwork they show after every episode, The Mandalorian “Credit Collection” action figure offers collectors an artistic take at some of their favorite characters from the Disney+ series. We can’t help but notice the strong resemblance of this figure to Jango Fett. Most of the similarities deal with the blue and silver details of the costume. And with other colorful detail throughout the rest of the figure, you can’t help but be reminded of previous Star Wars action figures based on concept art, like the Ralph McQuarrie figures. Many 6-inch collectors complain about the constant repaints in the line of late, but we have to confess that we find charm in these action figures now. But we also have to ask "Why didn't they call this figure Din Djarin?"
With the franchise-crushing lack of strong male characters in the awful Disney Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, and also in a lot of other entertainment in the brand, Lucasfilm made a sharp turn with The Mandalorian, focusing the series on solid male leads. And almost instantly, the series became a worldwide hit. And they continued this greatness with a strong female and other characters that called back to the Original Trilogy. But as far as the series is moving along, it seems we can’t get enough new characters as action figures in the line. They’re not coming fast enough for most collectors. The Mandalorian is front and center, and fans of the show and Star Wars collectors want many more toys made from the show. Once again, to help resolve the issue of not enough “The Mandalorian” toys at retail, we’re back to receiving exclusives of repaints to help pad the line. For the 2021 collection, then Hasbro replaced the Imperial Credits with Galactic Credits. They’re longer and narrower and have an interesting pattern on them. These are novelty figures, and the fact they come with a replica Galactic Credit as a pack-in item shows that these are collectible in more ways than one. Hasbro attempted to keep things interesting here.
For apparent reasons, The Mandalorian has strong ties to Boba Fett and with this release visually, Jango Fett, but this version feels like a new character altogether as well. There is an overall militaristic theme in The Mandalorian’s style and design. Suppose you think of all the fantastic Mandalorians we received as action figures in Hasbro’s long line, from the Comic Packs to the exclusive multipacks. In that case, you’ll find that The Mandalorian action figure has many similarities to those now-classic action figures. Hasbro decorated the “Credit Collection” The Mandalorian 6” figure artfully with many colors, including reddish-oranges, steely blues, light browns, pearly yellows, and bright aquas. Hasbro also utilized the enhanced articulation approach with this action figure, including the “butterfly” shoulder joints. They’re a bit difficult to use thanks to the upper body’s bulkier design, but they’re there and function well enough to be useful for collectors. For accessories, Hasbro included a ray staff and a blaster pistol, a removable jetpack, all of which they repainted too. And then Hasbro gave The Mandalorian a bright blue cape, and we have to be honest with you, it’s one of the things that help this figure “pop” in your collection. The Mandalorian is exclusive to Amazon and has an MSRP of $24.99.
