Artillery Stormtrooper - TBS [P4] - Six Inch Figures (TM13)

Wow! Hasbro is going into overdrive and is in a mode of banging out all of the various stormtroopers from The Mandalorian Disney+ series. We’re getting multiple and colorful troop builders for The Black Series 6-inch line in only a few short years. And while many collectors grow weary of repaints, at least characters like the Incinerator Trooper and Artillery Stormtrooper come with new gear to keep things interesting. The brightly colored white and yellow Artillery Stormtrooper is an extremely smart-looking action figure. It has elements of the Incinerator Trooper (TM03) figure, yet looks unique thanks to its accessories. They give it a completely different look than previously released Stormtrooper action figures, and we’re going out on a limb and claiming that this one is the nicest so far. We don’t often (if ever) see Stormtroopers take their thermal detonators off of their belts and use them in battle, so what do you think about removing it from the belt and then placing it into the included cannon for launching? That’s what they gave us here, and the interactivity they all create is impressive.

With all parts broken down, Hasbro worked in an astounding ten accessories into the packaging of the Artillery Stormtrooper. A figure with this many accessories and standard pricing makes anything in the Deluxe line look like fools’ gold. Thankfully, you get a wealth of accessories here, and they’re easily interchangeable, giving you a few different iterations of the excellent action figure. Hasbro tooled an all-new backpack for the Artillery Stormtrooper, but it barely stays on the figure. Don’t look at it crossly, or it might fall off in fear. But there is some saving grace here. Hasbro tooled it to stow the four thermal detonators that come with the figure. They lock into place nicely and are easily removable. Once removed, you can place them into the barrel of the cannon and recreate the pivotal scenes from The Mandalorian. Based on 2020’s TBS [P4] Imperial Stormtrooper (TM02) figure, all collectors know how exceptional the tooling of this figure is. The Artillery Stormtrooper is gorgeous in its proportions and is another perfect fit into The Mandalorian-themed collection of action figures to support the show.

We don’t believe, however, that Hasbro nailed the shade of the color flashes. They gave this figure bright yellow color throughout. But according to what we see in reference photos and the show, the yellow is more like the shade used for warning signs and construction vehicles. It’s not that big of a deal, but it is noticeable. Hasbro also included a basic E-11 blaster, and the figure holds it well with both hands or as needed for your collection. Hasbro worked in an incredible 30 points of articulation into the Artillery Stormtrooper 6-inch figure. The helmet has smooth movement thanks to its double joint. Not only does it come with a ball-socket head, but it also has a reversed ball-socket neck creating an optimum range of motion. Thanks to this ingenious design, the movement’s fluidity is fantastic, and you can tilt the head at every angle possible. The design of the helmet is equally impressive. We have no problem with Hasbro continuing to use the Imperial Stormtrooper (TM02) buck for more troopers in the future. They all look fantastic, and they’re going above and beyond, trying to make them as accurate as possible.
