Within the First Order fleet, troop, officers and personnel traverse the interiors of massive ships using small fleet transports. PIloted by First Order astromech droids, these vehicles are programmed with ship schematics and security access codes. In the event of a non-recoverable ship emergency, the fleet transports load into the First Order short-range evacuation vehicles (SREV). Once ejected, the SREVs use short-range thrusters for maneuvering to refuge, and are colored bright red to assist in locating during search and rescue operations.
There is a new 3.75” scaled vehicle hitting Disney Parks and Shop Disney, and while it’s not the most exciting product released by Disney, it’s a relatively fun toy. The First Order Short-Range Evacuation Vehicle (With First Order R5 Droid) is an oddly-shaped capsule that replicates the theme park attraction. And it’s well-designed and comes with multiple parts to make playtime and display equally enthralling. Unfortunately, it’s sourced to the Sequel Trilogy, which doesn’t necessarily bode well for toys. The customer base buying Star Wars toys are not Sequel Trilogy fans, so hopefully, this vehicle/playset will do well regardless since Hasbro isn’t producing too many mid-size vehicles in this day and age. The First Order Short-Range Evacuation Vehicle looks inspired by the Imperial TIE fighter vehicle, along with the many transports we see throughout the Star Wars saga. Lets’ run through the features of this release. And see if you think it’s worth the $74.99 MSRP.
The First Order Short-Range Evacuation Vehicle comes with smoky tinted glass. It’s a bit difficult to see inside the vehicle’s interior from the front. But don’t worry, there is a back hatch that opens up, and you can remove a skid (called a fleet transport here), which seats the R5 Droid as well as four other action figures. When inside the vehicle, it clicks into place and secures tightly. You only have to use a little gentle force to remove it and slide it down the ramp for play. The fleet transport is steered via the included R5 unit. Disney tooled the front platform to accommodate the astromech droid, and it fits perfectly in place. You’ll have to remove the third leg, however. The multiple parts of the vehicles are beautiful. Disney did a fantastic job recreating all of the details, and you’ll find seatbelts and the like on the transport. You may also want to reuse it for your various Rebel Alliance dioramas. Our opinion is that it will fill in nicely with the other 3.75” scaled products.
The First Order Short-Range Evacuation Vehicle comes with battery-powered electronic sound effects and lights. The interior lights up with red track lights, and the flicker, diminish, and swell based on the sound effects. The sound and lights interact with each other and help create various play states: evacuation, transport, or general cockpit controlling. The back of the First Order Short-Range Evacuation Vehicle lights up in a bluish-purple color very brightly. It’s reminiscent of how the Millennium Falcon fires up in the back. Likewise, various sound effects interact with this light-up feature and provide park-specific experiences. It’s a lovely release. The pack-in astromech droid is a black R5 Droid, but they are randomly inserted into other packages. Your astromech droid may vary from ours. It’s estimated there are four unique droids, so that’s a lot of money to “collect them all” at $74.99 a pop. We won’t call this set a deal, but we’re not unhappy with the purchase.
