A gifted warrior, Bo-Katan Kryze is a legendary Mandalorian. She refused to align with the Empire's occupation of Mandalore.
There’s another red-headed female in town, and she isn’t Mara Jade Skywalker or Shae Vizla. Bo-Katan Kryze made her debut in The Clone Wars in the fourth season, but her first live-action on-screen appearance is in the Disney+ series entitled The Mandalorian. The beautiful, unassuming warrior fights hard against the remnant Empire to retake Mandalore. In The Mandalorian, we see Kryze take on several stormtroopers and defeats them with relative ease. She is zealous in protecting her homeworld and is slightly less concerned with the Mandalorian rituals. She scoffs at Din Djarin’s obsession with protecting his human identity and his devotion to leaving his helmet on at all times. She gets together with other like-minded warriors and goes on a mission to steal the ship in a bid to get Mandalore back into the hands of the people. One aspect of her culture that concerns her dramatically is retrieving the darksaber from Moff Gideon. Her appearance in The Mandalorian is entertaining, and fans of the show are happy to see this character go from animated form to live-action character without too much lag time in between the two formats. Now, Hasbro produced the character in The Black Series [Phase IV] lineup, and it’s another slam-dunk hit as far as we’re concerned.
The Black Series [Phase IV] Bo-Katan Kryze (TM10) figure will elate The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and The Mandalorian fans. Hasbro produced a faithful representation of the character that satisfies all three sources. This action figure can efficiently serve as both a realistic interpretation of the animated character and a screen-accurate version of The Mandalorian character. Bo-Katan Kryze looks excellent next to the characters from The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels show also produced in the 6” line. The sculpting and the deco are nothing short of impressive, and the features like the blaster pistols and removable helmet with articulated rangefinder will make all collectors extremely happy. Hasbro produced a faithful likeness of the on-screen character. Hasbro developed the portrait incredibly well. But actress Katee Sackhoff is a beautiful woman, and the action figure isn’t nearly as pretty as the actress who plays the character. Perhaps a little more makeup would have helped Bo-Katan Kryze, but this figure’s deco is not terrible by any means. Like so many other Mandalorian characters, Bo-Katan Kryze comes with colorfully accented symbols and further details to give the armor its unique edge. Thanks to excellent design, you can place Bo-Katan Kryze in several action-oriented poses, some of which seem to defy gravity. You have many posing options here, and it’s excellent that Hasbro afforded them to collectors with this action figure.
The all-new figure comes with a wealth of articulation. As most 6” collectors know, Hasbro stepped away from double hinge-jointed articulation in favor of ball-jointed articulation instead. The latter articulation is smoother and provides more meaningful posing and movement. For Bo-Katan Kryze, the articulation system is as perfect as you could want it. An armored figure, Hasbro worked in articulation that isn’t inhibited by armored parts hitting against each other. Everything moves freely and provides optimal movement to the collector. For accessories, Bo-Katan Kryze comes with a removable helmet. We feel the helmet is a little too large for the figure, but that’s because of the hairstyle. Hasbro needed to design a bucker wide enough to take into consideration the bobbed hairstyle. It’s not inordinately too large, but just ever so slightly. It comes with an articulated rangefinder, and it stays at multiple angles unassisted, which is always a huge positive. Bo-Katan Kryze also comes with two blaster pistols. The figure can hold them simultaneously, and Hasbro designed functioning holsters to store them when not in use. They stay there tightly in place until you decide to remove them. Overall, Bo-Katan Kryze is another hit for Hasbro. They should be proud. Now they have to make The Vintage Collection fans happy next.
