Soaring at amazing speeds on reconnaissance and patrol duties, the Imperial speeder bike is a slim, singe-person repulsorlift conveyance. The lightweight bike can attain speeds in excess of 500 kilometers per hour. A quartet of small directional steering vanes on twin outriggings give the speeder its maneuverability. Imperial biker scouts use two shoulder-level handgrips to control elevation and direction; two rocker-pivoted pedals control acceleration. Located just fore of the speeder's saddle is a panel of toggle switches and knobs that control communications and other vital systems. Slung beneath the speeder's frame is a single laser cannon. Princess Leia raced a stolen Imperial speeder bike through the forests of Endor with Imperial biker scouts in close pursuit of the Rebel leader.
Hasbro got out the Speeder Bike (With Luke Skywalker) very quickly from the Speeder Bike (With Scout Trooper) released a year prior. But when it came to Princess Leia On Speeder Bike (Endor Forest Chase), the wait was a little longer. Appearing on rumor reports a year after the release of 2001’s POTJ Speeder Bike (With Luke Skywalker), Princess Leia On Speeder Bike (Endor Forest Chase) didn’t come out until 2003 as part of the Star Wars “Saga” [Phase II] line, also as a TARGET exclusive. Perhaps it’s the fairest to state either “third time’s the charm “ or “they saved the best for last” here. The Princess Leia On Speeder Bike (Endor Forest Chase) set doesn’t bring too much new to the table. But Hasbro went out of their way to give the Speeder Bike the best paint job of the three released thus far – we’re still hoping for a Speeder Bike (With Paploo) before we die – and Princess Leia may have the most-articulated buck of all the figures in the 12 Inch Figure rage. The figure is a vision of love from Hasbro. The release of this “final” set completes the main speeder bike chase right before the Battle of Endor. And we’re having a blast posing all of the Speeder Bikes and pack-in 12 Inch Figures together to recreate those exciting moments from the film. With spiffy new packaging and a completely different method of naming the product inside, Princess Leia On Speeder Bike (Endor Forest Chase) is one of the most exciting released of 2003. Available online in August, it didn't hit brick and mortar until October.
Princess Leia comes with an all-new female buck. Amazingly, Hasbro worked in 27 points of articulation, which allows Princess Leia to attain all poses required to pilot a Speeder Bike. A first time offering, this particular Princess Leia, is more commonly known as Princess Leia Organa (In Combat Poncho) or Princess Leia (In Endor Gear). Hasbro did an incredible job recreating the costume from Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi, which technically gives us more than one specific look. You can remove the combat poncho and helmet, and then we have Princess Leia as she appeared during the Home One meeting before the Battle of Endor. In addition to the removable combat poncho and helmet, Princess Leia also comes with a removable utility vest, a shirt, pants, boots, and a belt-holster combination that houses the signature blaster pistol weapon of the Rebel Alliance leader. A general, Princess Leia is the most influential female leader in the Star Wars Original Trilogy, and we’ve grown to love her more and more as we move through the years. Princess Leia comes with tightly implanted rooted hair. Once again, Hasbro did a fantastic job recreating the figure’s braids and overall hairstyle, and they faithfully captured the spirit and likeness of the on-screen character. Princess Leia can move as needed, and aside from lanky legs, the figure is perfection. Likely, Hasbro will never release Princess Leia as a single figure, so this might be your only chance to get it.
Hasbro added a decent amount of features into the Speeder Bike vehicle. For the Princess Leia On Speeder Bike (Endor Forest Chase) release, the Speeder Bike received dramatically new paint operations. The paint job on this vehicle is entirely different than the previous versions. This time, you’ll notice more silver and black markings throughout the body of the vehicle, as well as carbon-scoring and dirt collections here and there. The Speeder Bike comes with pivoting handlebars. Hasbro also installed a removable Endor poncho for extra protection, even though Princess Leia comes wearing one. The back of the Speeder Bike features two articulated exhaust flaps that flip up in the same way we see them move in flight. When you place Princess Leia on the Speeder Bike, collectors can take advantage of the positionable foot pedals that move in a free range of motion for your display needs. There’s also enough room on the back of the Speeder Bike to accommodate Luke Skywalker before he leaps onto the Scout Trooper’s to prevent escape. Also included with the Speeder Bike, are two three-position poseable “action” stands cast in clear plastic, so they remain “invisible” while displaying this item in a collection. Lastly, Hasbro added a swiveling, front-mounted, blaster cannon for defense. As you can see, the detail of the Speeder Bike is unprecedented. As a whole, Princess Leia On Speeder Bike (Endor Forest Chase) is a must-have purchase as far as we’re concerned.
