Jarek Yeager runs a repair shop on the Colossus refueling station, enjoying the solitude of being so far off the beaten paths of the galaxy. Bucket has been Jarek Yeager's loyal astromech for years, and despite being a battered, decrepit droid addled by outdated, glitching programming, is also a skilled mechanic.
Hasbro brings their A game to the Star Wars [Resistance] basic figure line. It’s unequivocally one of their bravest, most beautiful and excellently executed 5POA lines in recent memory. They’ve arranged a visually beautiful collection of figures together with a variety that seems unparalleled by comparison. We’re not focusing on the sex or race of the characters represented, but by the figures’ colorful outfits, the various aliens that make up the cast, and the unique take on droids and the First Order all add to the outside-of-the-box way to the way Hasbro’s been doing things for most of the last half-decade. Although the Star Wars [Resistance] Two-Packs are set at an offensive $14.99 MSRP, Hasbro did include high-quality action figures in them. The second figure I each set of the first wave is a paired droid. In this instance, we get a combination of Jarek Yeager and Bucket (R3-B7), both of which are stunning action figures that are designed and painted very, very well. Let’s go through each and see why we’re calling the Jarek Yeager/Bucket (R3-B7) Two-Packs set the first must-have Hasbro action figures item of 2019.
Jarek Yeager has a fine sculpt, but his beauty stems from this nearly flawless deco. We can’t remember that last time an action figure looked this good (as a production figure) from Hasbro. Yes, the figure is simply articulated with only five points of articulation, but the detail is magnificent, and the paint job is even better. His hairstyle alone is a work of art with blades of hair hanging down in a layered fashion just as we see in the animated series. His outfit, his facial expression, and everything else are wonderfully executed here. You’re going to be impressed. In an exciting move, Hasbro included an interchangeable helmeted portrait (something we are grateful for any time Hasbro does this for us), but instead of including a “face” visible behind the yellow visor, Hasbro provided none. It’s a slightly odd effect, but if you assume it’s harder to see through his helmet than say, Tora Dora, it’s not a problem at all. But we wanted to make it clear that there is no partial head sculpt worked into his helmeted portrait at all. Part of Team Fireball, he fits perfectly in the Star Wars [Resistance] line and interacts with other figures wonderfully.
Bucket (R3-B7) is too cute for words. But Hasbro goofed up the figure's designation. This droid's correct designation is R1-J5. Essentially a stripped R3-series astromech droid, Bucket (R3-B7) has its own personality that to his pilot helmet, droid “nakedness” a la C-3PO from Episode I, and its quirky personality and a sidekick to another sidekick, BB-8. Bucket (R3-B7) is an all-new figure that is exquisitely sculpted by Hasbro to include a ton of unique detail none of us have seen before since it shows the “guts” of an astromech droid. Hasbro also worked in as much articulation as they could while remaining faithful to the 5POA figure format. Bucket (R3-B7) comes with a reverse ball-socket head, ball-socket left shoulder, ball-socket right shoulder, hinge-jointed left foot, hinge-jointed right foot, slide-out third leg and hinge-jointed third foot. All of these points work together in line with each other to provide an incredible amount of movement to a complex yet small-statured action figure. The ball-socket head provides an astonishing amount of movement and is responsible for giving Bucket (R3-B7) all of his personality as an action figure. Don’t let this set pass you by because you definitely will be sorry if you miss it. Bucket (R3-B7) is worth it alone.
