For whatever reason, Hasbro cobbled together a multitude of Two-Packs all with previously released figures and sold them at marked-up prices in the hopes that new fans of The Clone Wars would bite. The sets are truly terrible and completely unneeded. We’re unable to fathom why Hasbro thought they’d be a good idea. The figures themselves aren’t terrible, but Hasbro didn't need to re-release them for a retailer exclusive. They've essentially wasted exclusive slots here. Let’s take a quick look at the figures inside. In the Clone Commander Cody Vs. Battle Droid set Hasbro repacks Clone Commander Cody (No. 10) and Battle Droid (No. 7) and that’s it. No new accessories, no new paint jobs. No new parts. It’s all rehashed stuff in this set, and we find it particularly disappointing. There are no differences between the figures in the Two-Packs sets and the basic figures released on a single card. A little effort could have had a tremendous impact on this exclusive.
Based off of the basic Clone Trooper (No. 5) figure in The Clone Wars [Blue] line, Clone Commander Cody is super-articulated with plenty of premium articulation. Clone Commander Cody is very clean, and the only battle damage is on his face, which is represented by a nasty scar going down his face. He has lots of orange color flashes on his armor, and they look great. His body design leads him to look a little bit repetitious, but he is still an excellent action figure despite this. One of the best parts of this action figure is his removable helmet, and it looks especially awesome from the side view. Hasbro spent a little time decorating it, and it has been created very faithful to what we see in the television series. Only lacking a dirty final wash, it is an excellent and required accessory for Clone Commander Cody. He also comes loaded with additional accessories including a missile launcher, missile, missile with attached cable, DC-15 blaster rifle, and DC-15 rifle.
The Battle Droid is a decent animated version of the droid that has been a staple in the Prequel Trilogy. But the figure impressed some and was dismissed by others. The Battle Droid has turned out pleasantly well as far as we’re concerned. Its biggest issue is it's misshapen when taken out of the package. This was true of the basic figure too. The figure also comes with limited articulation in the legs, which makes it a bit frustrating when trying to stand it up. The figure is molded in a medium soft plastic, and his pliability doesn't help things out much either. But if you can overlook this issue, there's no denying the Battle Droid is a pretty sweet design. The figure comes adequately accessorized. Where the figure does shine is in its paint job. Weathered beautifully and strewn with lots of battle-damage markings, the Battle Droid will impress you. Again, this set has some good figures in it, but the way they’re getting sold is a bit aggravating. They didn’t need to be released in a Two-Packs set.
