The action figure isn’t the character featured on the packaging artwork. And the character featured on the packaging artwork isn’t the action figure inside of the bubble! We could play this “chicken or the egg” back-and-forth game for eternity, but the bottom line is that Kenner got confused. The actual figure represents the Helder Spinoza character from Episode V. However; the artwork features the Pedar Solardo character. As a result, we have a unique Bespin Security Guard to round out THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Kenner toy line. Both characters were visible within the hallowed hallways of Cloud City in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, but only Helder Spinoza received the honor of getting forever immortalized in the Star Wars action figure line. The figure itself arrived in a variety of ways. These include varying degrees of gold paint (from bold to faint), fluctuating lengths of his mustache, and even the red color on his cuffs can differ from one figure to the next. As kids, we needed plenty of Bespin Security Guards to make our play scenes believable, but ultimately we only got two. It’s not a standout figure, but it was great to see so many different types of people represented in the Original Trilogy. Bespin/Cloud City was one facet of the Star Wars universe that prominently featured this. We still don’t have a modern update to this Bespin Security Guard figure, and I hope that Hasbro makes it a point of focus for the revitalized THE VINTAGE COLLECTION vision.
