The Power Droid was a fun action figure for me as a young Star Wars fan. I loved to have it tortured by my Jawas as well as having it flesh out one of the many displays I put together on my bedroom floor. I never remembered seeing the droid in the film, although I did recall other Power Droid characters like it. It was until Hasbro began making modern Star Wars figures that I realized the vintage Kenner figure was the character we see walking around Lars’ homestead in A NEW HOPE. And although Hasbro made more than just a couple of GNK power droids in the modern line (including the Sandcrawler version featured in the image of the Kenner Power Droid’s card back), Hasbro has never gotten around to remaking the vintage Kenner Power Droid figure (the blue one with a “face” and multiple colors) yet. I hope one day it comes in THE VINTAGE COLLECTION and that Hasbro updates the card back art to reflect the actual character in the film. Memories I recall with the Power Droid are its “clicking legs” and its bulky body. But I loved it. I find it odd that it hasn’t been on the forefront of Hasbro’s wish list, but I believe one day shortly it will finally come to pass that they add him to the modern lineup once and for all.
