The strong and fearless Princess Leia holds a very special place in many Star Wars fans’ heart. With her courageous personality and dedication to ending the tyranny of the Empire, she ranks among the galaxy’s greatest heroes and one of the most beloved heroines of all time.

Sideshow and Hot Toys are proud to officially present the Princess Leia sixth scale collectible figure from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back! The highly-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the appearance of Princess Leia in the film. Featuring a newly developed head sculpt with stunning likeness, sophisticated tailoring of Leia’s outfit as seen in the battle of Hoth, an assortment of weapons and accessories, and a specially designed snow-theme figure stand, this collectible captures all of the details of the great Rebel leader.

A long time in the making, the sixth scale Princess Leia collectible demonstrates undoubted quality. The dearest princess will surely become a cherished addition to all Star Wars fans’ collection!

Well, we feel strongly that Hot Toys has hit it out of the ballpark again, this time with the Princess Leia [Hoth] Movie Masterpiece Series one-sixth scale figure. Despite their uncanny ability to make 12-inch scaled dead ringers of the characters we see in the Star Wars universe, many people feel that there is something off about them in photos. We tend to agree. But that’s because you have to view these figures in person to appreciate just how closely Hot Toys comes to recreating lifelike collectibles in this high-end line. Princess Leia [Hoth] may be an exception. While still better-looking in person, she has turned out quite beautiful in images. With a remarkable likeness to actress Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia [Hoth] brings a somber yet lovely expression of artistry to the Hot Toys line, and it’s evident that the creators of the figure were considerate with how they decided to approach her. Princess Leia wore her Hoth outfit throughout most of The Empire Strikes Back. With just a few small changes added to her look including her wearing gloves and showing her bare hands, Hot Toys was careful to create an authentic and screen-accurate version of the character, and the final results are impressive, albeit not entirely perfect. Then again, what collectible is completely perfect?

We’re completely taken aback by her portrait. Hot Toys not only created a beautiful head sculpt of Princess Leia, but they also executed her hairstyle wonderfully. She has a thick braid running across the top of the crown, and there are two strands of hair on each side of her head. This detail is seen in Episode V. Her skin color comes off as a tad too dark in our photo gallery, but it looks like she has the perfect shade of melanin when holding the figure in hand. We’re thrilled that Hot Toys doesn’t go for real rooted hair with these high-end collectibles. Molded hair looks incredibly more realistic than rooted hair. Sadly, no extra head attachment is included here, so we only get one expression of Princess Leia [Hoth] with this release. Her costume looks incredible, albeit a little too clean. She is wearing an off-white jumper with a light cream vest. All of her badges are included, and the fine quilting within the outfit is there and prominently accented. Her frame and silhouette look great for the most part, but her rear looks too wide. Carrie Fisher was in shape and athletically shaped in Episode V and her butt was small. This figure gives an illusion that it is too shapely and rounded. The figure still looks great regardless. Her boots are made from a real soft-goods material, and her foot articulation can be utilized thanks to this approach.

Princess Leia [Hoth] is also moderately accessorized. She, of course, comes with the obligatory hand attachments so that the included accessories can work best with them. But the distinction here is that Hot Toys included both alternate gloved hands and ungloved hands. If you don’t recall, we saw both of these configurations of her in The Empire Strikes Back. She also comes with a welding torch and welding safety goggles. These are beautifully sculpted accessories and are perfectly matched to mimic the onscreen props. The welding torch is manufactured from a very soft and pliable cord that is coiled. She also comes with a Rebel Alliance blaster rifle. The appropriate hand attachments have been included to accompany these accessories. Our favorite accessory, however, is the breath mask that she utilized when investigating the “cave” after seeing a mynock attach itself to the Millennium Falcon. It clips to her vest just like in the film and has a pliable tube that moves when you pose the figure. We think Princess Leia [Hoth] turned out beautifully and for us is a highlight in the Hot Toys line. We’re eager to see more versions of her, like in the Bespin gown provided by Lando Calrissian, as well as her “Imperial prisoner” outfit which looks like it could be produced from her two main outfits with a few tweaks. This one however, is worth securing now.
