S.H. Figuarts is a new standard figure series that incorporates the Bandai action figure "Art" under the theme "Pursuing Character Expression through Humanoid Action."

We had extremely high hopes for the Jango Fett S.H. Figuarts figure. We wanted to love the Jango Fett S.H. Figuarts figure. But sadly, the Jango Fett S.H. Figuarts figure comes up short in more than just a couple of ways. Although not big fans of Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, we think it is one of the Prequel Trilogy films with the greatest cast of characters: both engagingly and visually. As a result, Jango Fett has always been a staple character for Star Wars licensees, and we have welcomed every version that they made into our collections whenever humanly possible. Jango Fett has some great qualities. He comes with articulation as we have never seen on a 6” figure. His paint operations are about as perfect as you’d want to see on an action figure of this size. So, what’s wrong with Jango Fett then? It’s frustrating. Jango Fett was released well into the learning curve of the S.H. Figuarts line, but he ultimately feels like he was one of their first. Visually, Jango Fett is an appealing action figure, and he is loaded with plenty for accessories, but he falls short in a couple of areas, and it affects our assessment on him greatly.

Jango Fett, at least this is true with our sample, comes with extremely loose joints. We not only had difficulty getting him to stand unassisted, but all of his upper body joints are loose too, and the figure constantly slouches over and falls. It’s increasingly difficult to recreate his many outstanding and intimidating postures that we saw in various scenes from Episode II. It feels like the more you try, the more futile it becomes and, that disappoints us greatly. The loose joints are just the beginning of the issues, sadly. There are a ton of accessories included with Jango Fett which in most situations is a great thing. But the ones included with Jango Fett either don’t adhere to the figure well, or they come apart in multiple pieces when you try to utilize them. Or, they’re just bizarre accessories generally speaking. We’ll explain. Jango Fett has been given two “half” Westar-34 blaster pistols. He comes with functioning holsters, but apparently, they’re too narrow to accommodate the barrels of the “full” versions of the guns. So to recreate a screen-accurate look for this character, S.H. Figuarts has provided two guns “pieces” that are just stocks of the guns. They’re very difficult to remove and replace on the figure.

We are also disappointed not to see an interchangeable portrait of Jango Fett’s human head included here. S.H. Figuarts have already set multiple precedents by including extra portraits with their figures, and this release would have warranted one. The helmeted portrait may be the nicest part of this figure. As this is Jango Fett from Geonosis, it would have still made sense here to include it with this release. It has been painted beautifully and comes with an articulated rangefinder. Another feature we aren’t crazy about is Jango Fett’s hands. The figure comes with plenty of hand attachments, but the size of the hands are much too small, especially in the fisted positions. Also, Jango Fett feels very lanky, as if he is “all leg.” His proportions seem off, and we’re not sure if we’re able to explain this well. You just need to look at the figure carefully to see what we are talking about here. Again, Jango Fett is a figure we wanted to adore, but the final action figure has fallen short and missed the mark for us. He isn’t without merit. He comes with plenty of accessories, and there is great “play” value here as well as “collector” value. But we think he has too many things going against him that will prevent him from becoming a grand slam hit.
