Rey (Starkiller Base) Vs. Kylo Ren/Poe Dameron Vs. First Order TIE Fighter Pilot/Finn (Takodana) Vs. FN-2199 - RO - Exclusives

Following on their popular line of Two-Packs, Hasbro has taken the approach further and created a six-pack of figures. They’ve created a Toys R Us exclusive six-pack which focuses on key battles seen in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. This multipack includes three groupings of two figures which are placed in their own unique window in the packaging to help reinforce the many “good versus evil” battles that were witnessed in the film. Part of the Rogue One product line exclusive program, we’re not sure how many collectors are going to show interest in a multipack that includes 100% straight repacks. The pairing of figures works well. The inclusion of FN-2199 (which is just a renamed First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper from 2015’s TFA First Order Legion Amazon exclusive multipack) is a nice touch for those that missed out on him when he was exclusively released in early 2016. The clumsily titled Rey (Starkiller Base) Vs. Kylo Ren/Poe Dameron Vs. First Order TIE Fighter Pilot/Finn (Takodana) Vs. FN-2199 Toys R Us exclusive multipack based on The Force Awakens will probably only work as a set to introduce new fans to Episode VII.

Rey (Starkiller Base) is a straight repack of 2015’s TFA Rey (Starkiller Base) Build A Weapon figure. Kylo Ren is a straight repack of 2015’s TFA Kylo Ren Armor Up figure. Both figures have been included to battle each other in a neat little display in your collection. Poe Dameron is a kit-bashed figure that utilizes the body of 2015's TFA Poe Dameron Build A Weapon figure with the head from the figure included with 2015's TFA Poe’s X-wing Fighter vehicle. And the First Order TIE Fighter Pilot is a slight repaint of 2015's TFA First Order TIE Fighter Pilot Build A Weapon figure. While this set obviously doesn’t include any vehicles to make this battle more believable, it’s a smart pairing of characters nonetheless. And the third grouping of two figures includes Finn (Takodana), which is a slight repaint of 2015's TFA Finn (Jakku) Build A Weapon figure. And then FN-2199 has been included to battle against him, and he is a slight repaint of the First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper figure from 2016's TFA First Order Legion multipack. It is nice to see this figure again after he was so difficult to acquire in the Amazon exclusive boxed set.

The Rey (Starkiller Base) Vs. Kylo Ren/Poe Dameron Vs. First Order TIE Fighter Pilot/Finn (Takodana) Vs. FN-2199 obviously doesn’t bring anything new to the table. All of these figures have been released and re-released a couple of times already. And since the line didn’t sell through when it was originally offered in 2015, we’re surprised o see Hasbro repackage them for another chance at retail. Things are just different now. There isn’t much thinking outside of the box anymore. Aliens are a rarity in any Star Wars line today. And Disney seems intent on consistently shoveling the same characters over and over again to the collecting community that has the money to spend. But they won’t spend this money just to repurchase the same old figures they already have, no matter how different the packaging. For new Star Wars collectors, this is a decent set. But how many new collectors are there going to be just a year out from The Force Awakens, when this set celebrates the characters from The Force Awakens? We don’t know, but it seems a little backward that Hasbro is focused on still supporting this film when so much of the product line can still be found on store shelves.
