The Jedi Starfighter is a unique, wedge-shaped craft capable of quick maneuvering. It looks like a standard scout vehicle on the outside, but is outfitted with hidden defense weapons in case of attack, as well as flight stabilizers. The Jedi Starfighter's pilot can cruise along on scouting missions with the flight stabilizers closed, then deploy the stabilizers to increase its maneuverability and make full use of the craft's power. While the fighter is well-equipped, Jedi pilots do not rely solely on its technological features – they use the Force to take full advantage of the fighter's capabilities.

A new Star Wars film like Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones brings with it new characters. It doesn’t get much simpler than that. Just as simply, it also brings us new vehicles as well. When Episode I was released, we saw vehicles that we never imagined possible in a Star Wars film. The Separatist Droid Army and the Trade Federation were filled to the brim with large vehicles that could never really be produced in 3.75” toy form; although we did get a lot of differently sized vehicles in the Episode I lineup. Hasbro continued in the long-running tradition of keeping the midsize vehicle assortment alive however. The vehicles in this line were perfect complements to the vast range of 3.75” action figures Hasbro produced. Hasbro now forges ahead with this same tradition for the Star Wars “Saga” line and we will be getting a vast array of vehicles is different sizes to help support Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones film in toy form. The Star Wars “Saga” line itself is a toy line meant to encompass the full Star Wars timeline under one banner. Many collectors are disappointed that an “Attack Of The Clones” line wasn’t created specifically for Episode II toys. But we kind of like the “everything under one banner” approach Hasbro is doing instead. It sort of makes things easier from a collecting standpoint.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter is one of the first vehicles produced for the new Star Wars “Saga" toy line. This streamlined vehicle looks amazingly like the vehicle in the film and hosts a nice amount of play features and details to pacify even the most stringent of Star Wars collectors. It comes with some neat things like an opening cockpit, lowering front landing gear, firing missile projectiles, removable side panels, spring-loaded wings and an adjustable headrest for that you can acclimate different types of pilots in the canopy as needed. The play features work well and don’t really interfere with the aesthetics of the vehicle. The paint job throughout the vehicles body is simply amazing. Hasbro didn’t utilize that many different colors, but what they used looks brilliant and the paint operations complement the decals that you apply beautifully. And last but not least we get the dome of R4-P17 which navigates Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter when he isn’t utilizing the manual controls. R4-P17 isn’t colored correctly, but the droid’s dome looks pretty cool centered on the top of the vehicle. We would have loved to have been able to place a full astromech droid into a functioning droid socket, but this whole thing was a trick of the eye and not physically possible without coming through the bottom of the ship.

We’d rate Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter as a fantastic vehicle because Hasbro has really developed a wonderful product here. It’s definitely one of Hasbro’s best items in years according to our own estimations. Hasbro made plenty of them for the Attack Of The Clones product launch and there were so many on store shelves that it was overwhelming at times. But Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter is a staple vehicle in the film and has a major role. It is likely that this vehicle will go down in history as a success. Plus, this style Jedi starfighter will likely be used by other characters so expect to see this tooling again and again as time moves onward. We should be seeing plenty of these vehicles over the course of time. Collectors should take note that there are actually two versions of this vehicle. The first was the original general marketplace release available at the launch of the Star Wars “Saga” line. The second is a KB Toys exclusive that comes in unique window box packaging in addition to a repack of 2002’s SW [S - P1] Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Starfighter Pilot) (’02 #36) figure. If you’re interested in the latter, KB Toys is charging you only $2 to get the Obi-Wan Kenobi basic figure. It's a minor bonus for something you may not need, but it interacts perfectly with the included vehicle.
