We’re liking the new approach to Hasbro’s multipacks. Sure, the figures are still annoyingly 5POA, but at least 75% of the Jedha Revolt multipack is all-new, or “new enough,” to warrant a purchase. The only dud here is a repack of 2016’s RO Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha) with seemingly sloppier paint operations, but other than that we get a new and awesome alien, an Imperial army builder, and a main character that many fans of Rogue One immediately embraced. Like so many four-packs before it, the Jedha Revolt four-pack is meant to be in the same format as the digital media multipacks that we started seeing released in the Rebels toy line. Although the packaging graphics have changed, the size and display space it takes up are nearly identical, and we get to form a beautiful mural of main characters from each film. The set itself is a bronze winner for us. Obviously there was a whole heck of a lot more Hasbro could have done here for 3.75” collectors, but it’s a good jumping off point and hopefully better is inevitably part of the future. Let’s take a quick look at the characters that make up the Jedha Revolt multipack.
We’ve already mentioned Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha). The figure really wasn’t spectacular with its first release and it really doesn’t fare any better here. It may be time to retire this sculpt now. It has an awkward posture and terrible paint operations, and it really doesn’t look like the actress who played her. It’s time to move on from this one, Hasbro. Our favorite figure from the set is Edrio Two Tubes. He is actually part of a duo of characters in Rogue One, and Hasbro decided to go with this one. The sculpt is beautiful and the detail is dynamic. Even better, the paint operations bring the figure to life. Hasbro spent a great deal of time and energy to get this figure just right. We don’t think his coloring matches the onscreen character perfectly, but the figure looks so fantastic as is that most of us probably aren’t going to care all that much. Edrio Two Tubes has been approached in a way that Hasbro would tackle a super-articulated figure. The amount of detail is stunning and the final product is a respectable success. He comes with a bronze colored blaster rifle and can hold it very well. You’re going to love the dirt on his clothing too. Edrio Two Tubes is an all-around triumph.
We also like how the Imperial Hovertank Pilot figure looks, but obviously it is frustrating to see an Imperial soldier like this looks so stiff thanks to minimal articulation. And what’s the purpose of this figure anyhow? Are we going to get an Imperial Hovertank vehicle in the 3.75” line with which to utilize this figure? Obviously that’s a long shot and something that likely won’t happen. Still, the Imperial Hovertank Pilot turned out better than expected. Based on the Imperial AT-ACT Driver with some new tooling and parts, it’s nice to see this character in its finest scale for the very first time. Another standout figure from the Jedha Revolt multipack is Saw Gerrera. Hasbro deserves praise for how the figure turned out. And we say that knowing well that the figure has flaws. The head sculpt is stunning and the costume has been perfectly replicated. Even his mechanical foot looks amazing. Our complaint is that the figure has an awkward posture and has to be posed strangely sometimes to maintain balance. But despite his few small issues, there is more here to appreciate than to criticize. The Jedha Revolt four-pack is really a nice collection of figures. But we wonder how it will perform at retail.
