“Traitor!”
One of the most attention-grabbing moments of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was the duel between the lightsaber-wielding Finn and the baton-wielding First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper. Now with the epic blockbuster hitting theaters around the world, Star Wars fans can fully enjoy this exciting fight between the renegade First Order Stormtrooper Finn and the Riot Control Stormtrooper on the planet of Takodana.
Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys are very excited to officially present a special sixth scale collectible figures set featuring Finn and First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper to let fans reenact this thrilling battle!
The highly-accurate Finn sixth scale collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of John Boyega in the film featuring a newly developed head sculpt, finely tailored outfit, LED light-up lightsaber, detailed weapons, and a hexagonal figure stand with the Resistance’s emblem. The First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper is equipped with sleekly designed Stormtrooper armor and helmet, the iconic baton, a riot shield, blaster rifle, and a hexagonal figure stand with the First Order’s emblem.
Don’t miss the chance to add this pair of fighters to your Star Wars collection today!
It’s astounding to see how impressively well Hot Toys is able to capture a human likeness not only in smaller one-sixth scale, but in molded plastic. Their attention to detail is mind-blowing. When you look at the portrait as closely as you can, you see that they’ve added real pores to the skin. The eyeballs looks wet. And the expressions are more realistic than some real life humans you probably know too. Despite resonating with thousands of collectors, there are still those that just don’t see the accuracy in these head sculpts. And for us, that is more mind-blowing that the actual head sculpt. To each his/her own. When it comes to the Finn & First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper two-pack from Hot Toys, we have to tell you that we’re nearly haunted by the likeness of Finn. Could this be one of Hot Toys’ greatest likenesses to date? There is no doubt that some human likeness are easier to attain than others. Obi-Wan Kenobi has had relative ease with getting made into various and very accurate Star Wars Collectibles. Now Finn seems to be in the spotlight when it comes to this trend/phenomenon. Whether a 3.75” or 6” action figure in Hasbro’s toy line or a high-end collectible by Hot Toys, Finn has looked pretty darn nice. But obviously the Hot Toys figure steals the show at the moment.
In all honesty, we’re not crazy about the concept or approach when it comes to two-packs made by Hot Toys. We think the thunder for each figure is slightly diminished with the doubled releases. We feel that each figure should get its chance in the sun. Otherwise you’re comparing the figures against each other, albeit unintentionally, when the strengths and weaknesses of each should be distilled separately. That being said, we can’t think of a better pairing than Finn & First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper. If there was an intensely emotional scene in The Force Awakens, it had to have been this moment. You see Finn, a character fed up with the evil wreaked by the First Order just walk away like it’s not big deal. But when he is confronted by a former colleague and soldier as he screams “Traitor!” at Finn, you can’t help but feel a little bit of emotion for Finn and empathize how he maybe didn’t have the fairest chance in life. Being taken away at a young age and forcibly indoctrinated to be unswervingly loyal to the First Order while developing a conscience in spite of this shows that there is an unshakeable moral fiber that can’t be broken down. We feel its this that makes Finn so approachable as a character. That’s a long way of saying that we’re impressed that Hot Toys has decided to capture this moment from the film in an high end and expensive one-sixth scale figure set.
In a nutshell, Finn is gorgeous. There are many layers and elements to his costume. He comes with all of the major props of the film, and even more we didn’t really knew existed. All in all, this is a well-accessorized figure without being an overwhelming one. There are enough relevant accessories here and that’s important to us as collectors. His costume is painstakingly recreated. And Hot Toys managed to get all of the textures added believably. Of course we have never felt the costume parts, but the way this figure was approached now allows us to believe we’ve now had this opportunity. He is a straight repack of the single figure release. The included Finn First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper is at the moment the "exclusive" figure in this two-pack. The figure is technically a straight repack of the single First Order Stormtrooper release. The only things new are a special pair of hands for holding the baton, and the riot shield, and this release does not come with the blaster pistol. All other accessories are the same. The baton and shield are beautifully sculpted. And the soft-goods straps to hold the shield in place overwhelm us. We couldn’t be happier with these figures. Together, Finn & First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper are a highlight in Hot Toys’ gorgeous Movie Masterpiece Series lineup. If you’re a fan of Episode VII and want to see a beautiful collection of figures, look no further than Hot Toys.
