The Spacetroopers are assigned to operate in Zero-G environments, and true Star Wars fans will see these troopers making their appearance when the Millennium Falcon was first captured by the Death Star.

The highly-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of the Spacetrooper in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. This specialized trooper features a beautifully crafted armor and helmet, a highly detailed Spacetrooper rebreather pack with detachable parts, two types of blasters, and a specially designed figure stand.

If there is one Star Wars licensee that can think outside of the box, Hot Toys is proving very early that they know what to do to make collectors very happy. Sure, they’re no end in sight for the obligatory characters we have seen time and time again. But with a level of excellence incomparable to the next peer in the same vein, Hot Toys is creating these expected characters that are on a plateau of their own. Add to that the “blink and you miss them” characters, and collectors couldn’t be happier. After a stunning introductory basic Stormtrooper, Hot Toys brilliantly determined a way to bring this great sculpt to the market again, but differently. What better way to do this than the Spacetrooper? These characters are extremely hard to see in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, but they are indeed there and have been on one-sixth scale collectors’ wish lists for years. It’s wonderful that Hot Toys is the first Star Wars licensee to make this happen for those collectors. And with quality like no other, we’re probably getting our first, last and best Spacetrooper in 12” scale.

Spacetrooper is a Star Wars Celebration VI exclusive, but it wasn’t available for any Star Wars celebration. It was announced close to the event, but the actual figure would be coming months later down the road. No harm, and no foul. Hot Toys is relatively new to the Star Wars license and they probably have a great deal to juggle to make this line be the greatest it can be. The actual figure is stunning of course. Utilizing most of the standard Stormtrooper armor, the Spacetrooper comes with a healthy dose of new accessories including a breathing tank, breathing canister, two filters, a unique blaster rifle and breathing hose which attaches from the helmet to the breathing cannister. Oh, and he also comes with the standard E-11 blaster along with a nice supply of interchangeable hand attachments. When fully assembled, the Spacetrooper couldn’t be more impressive. The armor is shiny, the body glove is real fabric, and the shape of the helmet and the streamlined and close fitting armor prevents the figure from looking too bulky. This figure is a dream come true.

Collectors who also purchase Hasbro’s line of 3.75” figure may recall 2009's The Legacy Collection Spacetrooper (BD 32) figure. Sadly, they won’t receive an interchangeable portrait showcasing the likeness of Joe Johnston sadly. But from what we understand, Hasbro had to play dumb in 2009 that the head sculpt of that figure “coincidentally” looked like him and that it wasn’t intentional.... so to speak. Hot Toys just avoided the controversy altogether. Regardless, the Spacetrooper is a stunning display of the talent at Hot Toys. We’re thrilled about this release, and we hope to see more like it in the future. However, we still want to see what Hot Toys can do with aliens like those in Chalmun’s cantina and Jabba’s palace. It is only then that we’ll be sure that they’re the new purveyors of the one-sixth scale line. Not available for mainstream release, right now it appears that Sideshow Collectibles is the ONLY place you’ll be able to snag this beautiful collectible. It is expensive, but in our opinion worth the money it commands. You won’t find better one-sixth scale figures elsewhere.
