Garazeb Orrelios: One of the last Lasats in the galaxy, this burly brawler is capable of taking down a squad of Stormtroopers with his bare hands.
C1-10P "Chopper": The loyal astromech droid of Captain Hera Syndulla, "Chopper" keeps the Ghost in fighting shape during its encounters with the Empire.
Hasbro is working hard to get out the main crew of The Ghost into the refreshed The Force Awakens format. And in all honesty they’re doing it in some pretty interesting ways. Kanan Jarrus is getting released more than we like to see, Ezra Bridger gets a much-anticipated and long-awaited accessory, and the two main women in the cast, Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren, are at the moment nowhere to be found. C1-10P (“Chopper”) is one of the hottest action figures in the Rebels toy line. It only saw release once and one per case and with the horrid distribution the line witnessed, most collectors never had the opportunity to see this figure reach the pegs. To date, the figure catches a hefty premium on the aftermarket. As much as C1-10P “Chopper” can be considered rare for the line, perhaps Garazeb Orrelios can be considered the antithesis. Original released in the 2014 R Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios/Stormtrooper (MS01) Mission Series set, for reasons unknown this duo became one of the biggest peg-warmers in the entire Rebels line. Now a rare figure has been paired with a peg-warmer in the 2015 The Force Awakens Two-Packs line with an increased MSRP. It’s exciting to see Chopper again, but it’s equally frustrating to see Garazeb Orrelios. However, admittedly this duo of characters look amazing together packaged because of their multiple alternating colors. (Not that we’re trying to use that as a selling point or anything.) The Garazeb/Orrelios/C1-10P “Chopper” Two-Pack will probably be a great seller because so many of us are desperate to track down Chopper, but hopefully this also offers an opportunity for new Rebels fans to become more engaged with the show from a play perspective.
As you know, C1-10P “Chopper” is based on Ralph McQuarrie’s artwork (just like so many other Rebels characters are) and a pretty nice action figure despite his minimal three points of articulation. There are important details of the character completely missing on the action figure that really should have been incorporated here. Sadly, major details have been overlooked here, and not something like a button or a switch colored the wrong way. C1-10P (“Chopper”) is missing his third unique third leg, which in the show looks a lot like a shopping cart wheel and at times a jet booster. We find this a major disappointment in this character’s design. Also missing from the figure are the arm attachments that extend out from his dome. As everyone knows, this was a key detail on McQuarrie’s concept of R2-D2. It would have been sublime for these to have been translated onto C1-10P “Chopper” just for posterity’s sake. If the intention is to go as simple as possible with this line, then Hasbro has achieved success. But hopefully if and when they tool a realistic version of C1-10P “Chopper” that they add all of these details and more to it because they’re very much needed in our opinion. That being said, C1-10P “Chopper” does have some rather excellent tooling. It’s frustrating to not be able to articulate the arms and levers sculpted into this figure, but the details are there nonetheless and they give the figure a wonderful texture and inside look at this two-dimensional now three-dimensional character. C1-10P “Chopper” interacts well with the other figures in the Rebels line and looks great in and next to the vehicles as well. And this droid looks equally great on a shelf.
Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios is becoming a favorite character in the Rebels lineup and he is an excellent action figure as well. Colorful, well-designed and large are all perfectly chosen adjectives to describe this likeable action figure. And although as of late the Hasbro line has been plagued with bad paint operations, we’re a little disappointed to report that this version of Zeb has backslid a little bit and there are some sloppy applications. His base color is purple, but he is wearing many armored pieces and has dark zebra like striped tattoos on his skin which gives him the perfect amount of personality. His head sculpt is awesome. His eye color may be slightly off, but Hasbro did a great job at recreating his wary/angry expression and the concern in his face satisfyingly impressive. He has a bright yellow jumper and Hasbro was faithful to its deco. Zeb’s feet took us aback. They look very reminiscent of Hammerhead’s feet from the 1979 Kenner line. Fellow collectors have already commented on this detail because his feet definitely stand out. Garazeb Orrelios comes with a very complex blaster rifle, but it fits perfectly in his squarely cupped hands. And then like most other two-packs, additional accessories that aren’t screen accurate have been included here as well. For reasons unknown, Hasbro has included a chain gun from The Clone Wars line and three translucent blue projectiles. The bottom line here is that Hasbro got out Chopper relatively quickly. We really didn’t need Kanan Jarrus and Garazeb Orrelios right away. And even Hera Syndulla’s Mission Series set became a bit of a peg-warmer. But the updated paint operations Sabine Wren should have been a first priority. Not to take away Chopper’s thunder, it’s great seeing him again with relative ease now.
