The Empire prepares to crush the Rebellion with a second, more powerful Death Star. As the Rebel fleet mounts a massive attack on the dreaded space station, Luke Skywalker confronts his father, Darth Vader, in a climactic duel before the evil Emperor. In the last second, Vader makes a momentous choice: he destroys the Emperor and saves his son. The Empire is finally defeated, the evil Sith are destroyed, and Anakin Skywalker is redeemed. At long last, freedom is restored to the galaxy.
You probably never thought that you would have the opportunity to own an Ewok drum set, did you? Well, thanks to the TARGET exclusive Accessory Set line of action figures, you can. Four sets of multipacks filled with accessories based on critical battles in the Star Wars saga have been put together to provide collectors with a much-needed arsenal to complement the basic action figure line. Based on many collectors’ requests, Hasbro finally made something fans demanded, but sadly, the reception was not so warm. The Accessory Sets did not sell well and had to be put on clearance for pennies on the dollar until they were completely gone. Hasbro planned to release the second wave of these but canceled them in light of the first series’s abysmal performance. We still feel, however, that the Endor Victory Accessory Set (With Scout Trooper) is one of the strongest of the four, as it provides a key army builder (with one major flaw), but some neat accessories we would probably never receive anywhere else.
Let’s talk about the Scout Trooper first. Surprisingly, Hasbro installed the cod section backward. This incorrect assembly means the thermal detonator (and butt, for that matter) are on his anterior and not his posterior. It looks wonky (and frankly quite silly), and it puts a hamper on what could be a perfect set in theory. The Scout Trooper is a repaint (and misassembled version) of 2000’s POTJ Scout Trooper (Imperial Patrol) figure. You’ll probably toss this figure aside anyway so you can inspect the neat accessories that accompany him. Included are the Scout Trooper action figure is the standard Imperial blaster pistol. Hasbro also added a folded-up trench coat, a “hard” and “soft” Endor Rebel Soldier backpack, a blaster rifle, an Endor Rebel Soldier helmet, four grenades, an AT-ST Driver helmet, a “drum set,” and two drumsticks. Again, were it not for this set, we would probably never see the Ewok drum set. You have to thank this set for that, at least.
The two Endor Rebel Soldier backpacks that have been included here are quite awkward. They have two hooks attached to them so that they go over any action figure’s shoulders. This convention is not only silly in appearance, but it’s also too bulky. It almost would have been better if Hasbro left these out entirely or added two of them with standard back plugs instead. There are still some cool other accessories here to make up for where it falls short, however. Four extra grenades have been included, as well as extra removable helmets. Customizers may reap the most amount of benefits than anyone else. Imagine all of the unique Rebel and Imperial removable helmet characters they could make with these extra accessories? The options are nearly limitless. For $9.99, you get more than enough plastic to make this a worthwhile purchase. Be warned, however. These didn’t sell well, and Hasbro will likely never attempt anything else like this again, which is sad.
Status: Scout Trooper is a repaint of 2000's POTJ Scout Trooper (Imperial Patrol) [Version 1] figure. This time Hasbro assembled the figure with the cod section piece backward.
