Any longtime collector of Sideshow Collectibles’ 1:6 Scale Figures line knows how tiring it can become to get one clone after another released nonstop when so many other characters should be made first. You can liken it to Hasbro. They often make it their mission to release figures of Anakin Skywalker and Clone Troopers even though collectors want to see unique (and obscure) things in the line first. You can also imagine that when a character in the 1:6 Scale Figures line “breaks the mold” so to speak that it is instantly more interesting than the latest clone flavor of the month. Specifically we’re talking about General Grievous, part of the Scum & Villainy line, a figure that has overwhelmed us so much that we almost don’t know how Sideshow Collectibles created him to look exactly like the character in the film. You do become a bit numb when you get one clone trooper after another, but General Grievous was a huge shock to the system but it was a great surprise and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the production piece. In fact, we’re so overwhelmed that we almost don’t even know if we can organize our thoughts well enough to address all the details you must know about this collectible. General Grievous may very well be the riskiest 1:6 Scale Figure of Sideshow Collectibles’ entire career. It took almost two full years from the date it was released before it even went on pre-order, but it arrived soon after that and it began impressing collectors as it arrived on doorsteps.

There probably isn’t a better collectible interpretation of a fully articulated General Grievous figure than this release. There is really no other way to put it. The price is nearly unforgiveable, but China is proving to be quite a disappointment to the wallets of vendors that utilize them to make their products. As a result, the increased cost hits our wallet and the pinch is more than what most collectors can bare. If you are able to squeak by and afford this collectible, you’ll quickly find that it is almost worth the almost offensive MRSP. We’re not trying to spend your money for you, but there is an impressive amount of detail from head to toe. All the stops were pulled out for this figure and our minds our completely boggled with the realism this piece has with so many functionally mechanical parts. You could never expect Hasbro to create something of this magnitude, and maybe you have no desire to see them do something this amazing. But including the interchangeable arms, we’re talking over 50 points of articulation. Even if you don’t count the extra set of arms, we’re still talking somewhere within the 40 point range. That is simply amazing. The detail in the accuracy of General Grievous in unprecedented. No one, including Sideshow Collectibles themselves have some this close to capturing the size, attitude and functionality of the Separatist leader. From the marbled detail in his bony structures, to the real organic beating organs in his clear green chest cavity, there is a great deal to absorb with this stunning collectible.

Standing an astounding 16 inches tall, General Grievous’ stature is intimidating to the rest of your clones and Jedi, two of his most hated enemies. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Master) in particular looks dwarfed next to Grievous’ incredible size. As mentioned, Grievous comes with an interchangeable set of splitting arms, but he also comes with a caravan of other cool accessories too. He comes with a deluxe soft-goods cape with clasp and real sewn in lightsaber hilt pockets, but the luxurious texture that we saw in the General Grievous Premium Format Figure cape is absent. It just doesn’t have the same texture or drape, and it’s a bit too short for his height. But all is not lost. He comes with plenty of other cool accessories that draw your attention elsewhere. He also comes with four metal (and magnetic) lightsaber hilts as well as two fully lit blue and two fully lit green lightsabers. He also comes with the same gun that Obi-Wan Kenobi shot him with to ultimately kill him. And he also comes with an electro staff with two removable energy effects. His articulation allows you to pose him with these accessories in the same exact fashion as in Revenge Of The Sith, but if you want some assistance, the newly made articulated display stand works like a charm with him. We must reiterate. The complicated form of his equally organic and inorganic frame is perfectly recreated in one-sixth scale and it’s done so well we just can’t imagine anyone else doing a better job on him. General Grievous has thoroughly impressed us. We hope that many other collectors beside us will be able to enjoy him too. Sideshow Collectibles has impressed us again. This is the ABSOLUTE BEST articulated interpretation of General Grievous you will ever find.
