Don't let the uniform fool you, should you find yourself in the depths of the Coruscant entertainment district. Sure, there may be officials from the upper levels "slumming it" among the barflies at a Coruscant nightclub, but the Republic official or Senate Guard may in fact be a con artist looking to separate you from your pocketbook. Though at first glance, Lt. Dannl Faytonni seems to wear the uniform well, nothing should be taken for granted.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones gave George Lucas an opportunity to feature some of the actors who played characters that traditionally had their faces covered in previous films. It was really nothing knew however. Jeremy Bulloch got to play an Imperial officer in addition to playing the coolest bounty hunter in the galaxy. And Warrick Davis, who played Wicket had a small role as one of the spectators during the Boonta Eve challenge. These cameos were well-deserved by these actors. They brought life into the Star Wars universe and it really comes across as a big ‘thank you’ to see them get face time, albeit for a few seconds. Anthony Daniels was maybe the biggest surprise in Episode II. In addition to reprising his role as C-3PO, he plays Lieutenant Dannl Faytonni, a character whose character name is a clear anagram of Daniel’s real name. Suave and sophisticated, Anthony Daniel’s mannerisms, that are only seen for moments by the way, are hard to hide the fact that he played one of the most adored droids in the Star Wars saga. Hasbro also honored his appearance in the film. But we’re not so sure if fans are going to embrace it like maybe they’d presumed.

Lt. Dannl Faytonni (Coruscant Outlander Club) comes across more impressive than he actually is. The intent of the action figure is sadly lost on his ability to be posed. How often is it that an action figure with 14 points of articulation is unable to provide any real usable movement? That’s what is so frustrating about this action figure. Sure, you can make him wave his arms and you can swivel his feet or twist his waist, but unless you have the bar table environmental display stand accompanying him, you may find that this action figure just doesn’t deliver everything that you’d expect it could. Again, 14 points of articulation mean nothing if they’re essentially not usable. The figure has a fair head sculpt and average likeness and the uniform he is wearing looks great. But Hasbro engineered this figure with one leg shorter than the other. They had reason to do this. This feature allows him to lean against the bar table rather believably, but without this companion piece you’re going to be one frustrated collector. It is very difficult to pose Lt. Dannl Faytonni (Coruscant Outlander Club) and make him look natural without the bar table. This is where ball-jointed articulation would have saved this action figure. But sadly we now need an update to this action figure (which will likely never happen) because this one doesn’t cut it.

For $4.99, you get a plethora of stuff in this 3.75” release. He comes with a blaster that fits perfectly into a functioning holster. Thank goodness functioning holsters are the norm. He also comes with a very cool environmental display stand, a portion of the Outlander Nightclub. The bar table is made up of two parts: the table and then the stand (which secures the table and provides an area for the action figure to be placed. Also included is a pink drink from outer space. Who knows what cocktail this is, but it seems to accent this wry character fittingly. The deco is great and the design is pretty darn screen accurate. You will be hard pressed to find complaints with the accessories. Hasbro was clearly proud of this action figure and like so many other characters that have been created from one sculpt, Hasbro utilized most of Lt. Dannl Faytonni (Coruscant Outlander Club) to create Achk Med-Beq (Coruscant Outlander Club), another cameo appearance by a different masked Star Wars character. We appreciate all of the efforts made with Lt. Dannl Faytonni (Coruscant Outlander Club), but we feel the final product didn’t quite meet expectations. As a display piece it shines. But as a functional action figure? Well, we’ll let you decide.
