Collectors probably should have banked on Hasbro releasing every possible version of the Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor Jedi starfighter after they created and released 2008’s TCW Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Delta Starfighter, a stunning vehicle for the basic figure line. It may be an exaggeration at this point to say that it’s likely we’ll get every single Jedi starfighter that utilizes this sculpt in the toy line, but it’s evident that Hasbro is indeed finding ways of repainting the original Obi-Wan Kenobi mold to bring us new Jedi-specific ones for our collections. A sleek and streamlined vehicle, it has more functionality than many of the other larger vehicles in The Clone Wars line (and probably many more of the ones in any realistically styled Star Wars toy line). In a nutshell, it’s one of the best Jedi starfighter sculpts the 3.75” line has seen. It comes apart and becomes two separate smaller vehicles, the cockpit is roomy and there is a functional droid socket that houses both realistic and animated astromech droids. It doesn’t take much to make kids and collectors very happy and this vehicle successfully foes that on all fronts. So, how many do you have in your collection?
Not only is it a great looking vehicle, but it’s expertly painted and has just the right amount of play features. Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter is beautifully painted and decorated in yellow and gray. We’ll actually talk about this more in a bit, but the yellow and gray used closely matches the appearance of his Jedi starfighter in Episode III. The vehicle breaks apart into two separate “starfighters” and this is just a pleasure and it ultimately feels like it gives you a lot more bang for your buck. And let’s be honest, it does. The fully functional droid socket with opening hatch perfectly fits both R2-D2 and R3-S6 Goldie (also from the Downfall Of A Droid episode from Season 1) and the three projectiles it fires look realistic and the play feature aspect doesn’t compromise the integrity of the vehicle from a collector perspective. With the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Delta Starfighter and Ahsoka Tano’s Jedi Starfighter, the trio of main characters each has his specific starfighter. You should treat yourself to at least one of these awesome Jedi starfighters for your collection. You’ll need to play with one to appreciate how cool it is.
Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter has already made a plethora of appearances in Season 1 of The Clone Wars (and even made an appearance in a flashback in The Clone Wars film) and it looks like we will continue to see this aggressive and lightning fast vehicle for a while. The cool thing about this class of starfighter is that Filoni has decided to keep the coloring faithful to what we see in the opening sequence of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith which again just helps to connect the dots between the Expanded Universe and the actual six non-animated films. It’s probably a good bet that we will see the demise of this vehicle in a later season since Hasbro gets an upgrade in Episode III, but we have to say that The Clone Wars version of his vehicle will be the one with more play value and awesomeness that the movie-styled version just doesn’t have. The Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor is definitely one of the greatest vehicles Hasbro has produced to date and no there are more options than ever to add one to your collection.
