Stronger and more advanced than the standard mechanical soldier, super battle droids run tirelessly and fearlessly into battle, reducing their targets to smoldering ruins with their cannon fire.
It feels like collectors waited a lifetime for Hasbro to get Ki-Adi-Mundi into The Black Series 6-inch lineup finally. Too long if you ask us. We typically agree with the adage, “It’s been worth the wait,” but this one felt slightly painful. Hasbro seemingly isn’t too fond of the Prequel Trilogy, evidenced by the lack of action figures they produce from Episode I, Episode II, and Episode III. However, when they release characters from the first three stories of the Star Wars saga, collectors get excited because characters from those films are often the most interesting. The Prequel Trilogy opened our eyes to the many Jedi species in the universe. The Cerean, Ki-Adi-Mundi, is among the most unique-looking of the Jedi High Council. The Black Series 6-inch figure borrows parts from action figures designed in 2022 and then brings many new elements to make the old parts feel new and fresh again. The figure’s portrait is astounding. It may be the best likeness of the character in the action figure line. Then, the figure’s articulation brings everything together and gives us a remarkable interpretation of the character seen in all three Prequel Trilogy films. We hope Hasbro takes the blueprints from this 6-inch figure and shrinks it down for The Vintage Collection. We do not have a movie-based interpretation of Ki-Adi-Mundi in a 3.75-inch super-articulated scale. The closest we got was 2009’s LC Concept Art Ki-Adi Mundi (BC38) figure. That release is stupendous, but it isn’t a movie interpretation, and that’s what we need to complete our collections. Ki-Adi-Mundi comes with a hilt and a removable blue lightsaber blade. The figure holds the lightsaber accessory well and looks fantastic next to other 6-inch figures like the Super Battle Droid. We only hope that Hasbro has more characters in the hopper from Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones. There is so much untapped ground from that point in the Star Wars timeline, and they need to take advantage of the collectors who will purchase them while we are still around. In summary, Ki-Adi-Mundi is one of our most favorite figures of 2024. Let’s finish up those Jedi Knights and Masters, Hasbro!
