Not that there is a downside to pretending that Disney Star Wars doesn’t exist; we missed the pre-order and release of one of the most significant action figures produced for The Vintage Collection in quite some time from our lack of engagement in the IP as of late. The Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios is a relative masterpiece and a necessary release to complete our Ghost crew. The final product is remarkable, even if it favors the animated interpretation of the character more than appearing like a realistic interpretation of it. Your opinions will certainly vary here. Still, the only thing we find disconcerting with the release of Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios is that Hasbro tried to pull the wool over our eyes again by releasing it as a $24.99 Deluxe figure. Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios is a triumph in multiple ways, but why does Hasbro release so many all-new sculpts as Deluxe figures? (That question is rhetorical.) To qualify as a Deluxe figure, Hasbro should have loaded Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios with multiple accessories. What pours salt into the wound here is that this action figure would have fit in standard carded packaging.
Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios is super-articulated. Hasbro worked marvelously on 27 points of articulation across 17 areas. The joints are fluid and move well, yet hold their positioning as needed to support the figure’s poses. At first, we had some difficulty balancing Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, but once we finished with the ankle joints, we found that they provided the needed balance for the figure. You get a wide range of movement from all points of articulation, which is useful when posing the figure with its accessories. Hasbro included two versions of the Lasan Honor Guard AB-75 Bo-Rifle: folded and unfolded. Both accessories have plugs on both sides, and you can install them on the back of the figure. The weapons stay in the figure’s back well, and if you want to get creative, you can incorporate both into the figure for various action poses. Hasbro also added two pink electro effects, adding color and texture to the well-designed guns. We found that Zeb doesn’t hold the collapsed gun or the extended version, but it’s not a dealbreaker here by any means.
What we’re probably most impressed with are the paint operations here. Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios looks gorgeous. The bright colors of yellow, green, and purple work perfectly together and capture the magic of the character we see in Star Wars: Rebels. While this interpretation of the character has a strongly animated approach, it also has a realism to it. We notice, however, that it is more subtle than other realistically interpreted action figures. Overall, we’re confident collectors will love what Hasbro has produced here for our collections. It’s incredible to get larger-sized action figures for our collections, and we’re excited to see what the future brings when they can design them, as well as Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios. The upcoming Chewbacca figure will likely take this approach, and we are excited beyond words about the outcome of that upgraded action figure. We’re, however, very disappointed with the packaging. The photography is dreadful. The shorts are over-exposed and bleached out. It’s like they have an amateur taking the pictures for this packaging. Despite this, Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios is a must-have addition to your collection.
