Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
So, Hasbro is doing the same laziness in The Black Series 6-inch line as in The Vintage Collection line. They’re repacking the exact figures under different entertainment logos and sequence numbers, hoping you won’t notice. But collectors see everything. Making her debut in The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano quickly became a fan-favorite character in the series, and fans of The Clone Wars and the Hasbro Star Wars line couldn’t seem to get enough of her. After The Clone Wars ended, Ahsoka Tano appeared surprisedly in Star Wars: Rebels. After that appearance, Star Wars fans knew that the possibility existed that she could add to the other stories within the practical timeframe of The Clone Wars timeline. Ahsoka Tano makes her first live-action appearance in the Disney+ series entitled The Mandalorian, and now the character has her show in Ahsoka. However, a different actress, Rosario Dawson, portrays the beloved character in both live-action series. Seeing the Togruta Jedi Master in real life was a treat for everyone who adores the character. Likely tired of forever playing “catch up” in The Black Series 6-inch action figure line, Hasbro makes things easy on themselves and releases a relatively unchanged Ahsoka Tano from The Mandalorian as the character from Ahsoka.
Ahsoka Tano is a slight repaint of the all-new figure released in 2022. Collectors of the 6-inch line will likely be happy to see this excellent action figure rereleased in the toy line, but we wished Hasbro did something exclusive for it to make it unique and set it apart from its initial release. It’s the most significant effort Hasbro has put forth on an Ahsoka Tano 6-inch action figure. The Rebels version of Ahsoka Tano was decent for its time, but then Hasbro used the tooling to produce a new character version based on The Clone Wars. Hasbro opted for an animated likeness for the latter, and collectors were disappointed with the result. Hasbro abandoned all existing tooling of Ahsoka Tano to start from a clean slate. And with a new actress portraying the character in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, Hasbro could no longer rely on any existing tooling because the character differs from one Star Wars Entertainment to the next. So, they’re making the most of this tooling thanks to its rerelease. The head sculpt of Ahsoka Tano is breathtaking. We don’t believe we’ve ever seen a closer likeness to a human character than what Hasbro achieved for Ahsoka Tano. It honestly resembles Rosario Dawson with orange makeup flawlessly. We’re thoroughly impressed with the level of authenticity of the likeness Hasbro captured on this actress. It’s quite a feat.
Hasbro tooled a beautiful amount of detail into the Ahsoka Tano action figure. This version of Ahsoka Tano barely resembles the previous iterations Hasbro gave us throughout the years. However, that’s alright because it’s technically an all-new approach to the longtime Prequel Trilogy-era character. It focuses on the live-action likeness. You know how impressed we are with the portrait, but the rest of the figure comes with beautiful sculpting and design. The midsection, the baggy pants, and the newly redesigned torso and chest have incredible details not seen until now. The paint operations are beautiful throughout. And they look just as good on the rerelease, too. Ahsoka Tano comes with four accessories: a hilt, a white lightsaber blade, a shoto hilt, and a white shoto blade. The blades are thicker than previous releases, which is good news, and they attach to the hilts with a plug that looks like it will hold up over time with multiple reuses. The hilts connect to the figure’s beltline thanks to pins sticking out that welcome the rings of the hilts, although they don’t lay as flatly as we hoped against the figure’s body. Regardless, the figure poses stunningly and looks good with one or two weapons. Overall, we’re thoroughly impressed with what Hasbro accomplished here. We should probably expect “deluxe” versions of this figure with the poncho and other scene-specific accessories later, but they should have included them here.
