Luke Skywalker & Grogu - TVC - Deluxe

Seeing Luke Skywalker added to the Disney Star Wars story of The Book Of Boba Fett excited many fans who watch the show. And when something resonates firmly with fans, we'll inevitably see Hasbro produce an action figure set based on this appearance and moments in the show. The Vintage Collection Luke Skywalker & Grogu set pairs two likely characters together and then adds accessories to help recreate these special moments. With some newness and repetition added to the mix, there should be enough here to appease Star Wars collectors. But we still feel strongly that the Deluxe line is overpriced and pulls the wool over our eyes because we're not getting distinctly "Deluxe" Star Wars action figures in this format. We are only focusing on Hasbro to foot the bill of tooling costs. We're not sure if collectors are sick of Grogu yet, but Hasbro will find any excuse to release another one in their various formats. If this is okay with you, then great. But we must admit that we metaphorically link Grogu to the macadamia nuts Uncle Leo overate to the point of sickness in Seinfeld. No more nuts!

Luke Skywalker is the feature of this set. The figure is a retool of 2023's TVC Luke Skywalker (Imperial Light Cruiser) (VC264) figure. Hasbro updated the torso and changed the figure's belt this time, but the soft-goods skirt is still in place. We also noticed some variation in the paint operations, so that you can categorize this figure as a repaint. Hasbro included a lightsaber and hilt to accompany Luke Skywalker, but it's challenging to distinguish whose accessories are in this Deluxe set. You'll have to be the judge of that. In addition to the lightsaber accessories, Hasbro included seven total frogs, but three are outstretched, and four are sitting. They also included an "invisible" stand to recreate the scene where Luke gathers them so that Grogu would no longer be distracted. We also got the two gifts, each in two forms, which Grogu had to choose from as a small test. We received Yoda's lightsaber and hilt. And then we received the Beskar shirt laid out, and then when it was rolled up in fabric. Will Grogu choose wisely the one choice of gift to receive? All of the accessories included here interact well with the figures.

Grogu looks rehashed, but it also looks all-new. We no longer know, so we'll allow you to judge that. Hasbro can't add a ton of detail to this small action figure, but what they can do, they do admirably. When you have all of the figures and accessories interact with each other, collectors can recreate some pivotal moments from The Book Of Boba Fett. It's reminiscent of Hasbro's achievement with the Ahsoka Tano & Grogu Deluxe set. What could be better for us is the MSRP. However, this complaint is an ongoing struggle with collectors and Hasbro. Hasbro may never see the light on this issue, but so many collectors can no longer afford the products made for The Vintage Collection. And people are canceling their preorders consistently. The Luke Skywalker & Grogu Deluxe set is a Target exclusive and retails for $27.99. We imagine time will tell how long collectors will put up with these exceptionally high Star Wars action figure prices. Hasbro should periodically release figures into the basic lineup with a generous amount of accessories, especially those retooled or reworked where Hasbro has saved money and can sell them for the price of a single-carded figure.
