R2-H15/R2-H16/R3-H17/R4-H18 - Droid Factory

All different types of droids populate the Star Wars galaxy. Each is different and has their own unique personality and colors. These four droid figures are a celebration of holiday's past.

Disney decided to release a “greatest hits” package of their holiday astromech droids from Christmases past for unknown reasons. Ranging from Holiday 2015 through Holiday 2018, the four consecutive yearly droids see the light of day once again, not single-carded but packaged together in a boxed set. To change things up a bit or keep things interesting, Disney decided to create an exclusive accessory for all of the repackaged droids. They designed a candy cane-inspired scarf, and it perfectly fits right below the dome and serves up revitalized Christmas cheer to all who purchase this set. All of the astromech droids have received slight changes here and there in their paint operations, but nothing looks intentionally changed. We also get the same accessories that were part of the original releases. R2-H15 is a white R2 unit with red and green highlights. It comes with a Santa hat, and now a new scarf. R2-H16 is a red R2 unit with green and white accents and comes with a pom beanie and the new scarf. R3-H17 is an R3 unit with a clear dome (standard on most R3-series astromech droids) and is white with green and yellow accents. It comes with a utility arm that can break down into two parts, in addition to mistletoe and, of course, the new scarf. Lastly, R4-H18 is a frosty R4 unit designed in translucent plastic but with cloudiness that obscures its internal components. It comes with seven drinking glasses, a bar tray, and a drink dispenser. Likewise, R4-H18 also received a new scarf. The set looks nice and will complement any collection that missed out on these years of Droid Factory holiday figures. But it’s also a quick cash grab, and there isn’t enough newness, in our opinion, to warrant the $34.99 price tag. We wished that Disney thought outside of the box a little and came up with different ways to make these re-released astromech units a little more “new” and interesting. But stuff like this is all too familiar across all toy lines. Repackaging seems to be the kneejerk reaction anymore. At least we received a new single-carded Holiday Droid Factory figure for 2021: R5-D33R!
