A small, secretive private military force, the Resistance was founded by Rebel hero Leia Organa to monitor the actions of the First Order.
We can’t think of the worst multipack for 3.75” collectors than one that focuses on Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, and regurgitates figures that Toys R Us couldn’t give away at 90% final markdowns before closing up shop forever. Look, we’re not here to rile you up pro or con The Last Jedi, but the fact of the matter remains that the film was indicative of a merchandise failure and that collectors want super-articulated action figures, even the ones they loathe. Yes, it’s nice that Hasbro gives Star Wars collectors the chance to acquire these dreaded action figures one last time before they go into the vault forever, but their time and energy might have been better occupied developing a set on The Rise Of Skywalker instead. We wonder why they didn’t do that. Oh, we know why. They didn’t produce any 3.75” 5POA action figures based on The Rise Of Skywalker! Hasbro believes they’ve given us the next best thing, but we anticipate a clearance bonanza on Amazon for this set before they come close to selling most units are MSRP. Lets’ take a look at the bologna Hasbro included in The Resistance Celebrate The Saga multipack.
BB-8 is ONCE AGAIN included. Don’t we have more than enough BB-8 action figures by now? Why didn’t Hasbro take this opportunity and pull an obscure droid from Episode IX instead? There are countless droids from EVERY SINGLE STAR WARS movies that need to be realized in 3.75” action figure form. Here was another squandered opportunity to bring us something new and fresh. Rey comes with new Photo real technology, and we’re choosing her as the figure that has ownership of the porg accessory since Chewbacca isn’t found within the six sides of this packaging. We suppose the updated paint operations help improve the character’s likeness in a 3.75” scale, but it looks like Hasbro gave the face freckles. We don’t believe that accurately captures the likeness of the character. Rey comes with a lightsaber, blaster, and battle staff, oh, and the porg. Finn and Poe Dameron are from the 2017 Star Wars [The Last Jedi] Force Link line. The updated Photo Real looks better than it does on Rey, but all of the human characters in this set have awkward and “off” skin tones/colors. Finn and Poe each have two accessories, and they complement the figures well.
C-3PO is perhaps the star of the set. It feels great to see an Original Trilogy character in a sea of Disney Trilogy disaster. Still, C-3PO comes with five articulation points, a static pose, and a paint job that IS NOT vacuum metalized. So, will any collectors be happy with this version until that’s resolved? Probably not. The figures don’t help to bring any semblance of the movie together. We’d like to know #wheresrose here. Her character was as ample of a lead role as Rey, Finn, or Poe, yet Rose is nowhere to be found. By the exclusion of Rose, is Hasbro saying that female Asian characters don’t sell? It makes you think a little bit more about this set. Regardless, many Star Wars fans claim that The Last Jedi broke Star Wars forever. Whether you feel that’s an accurate assessment or straight hyperbole, the fact remains that merchandise based on The Last Jedi is eponymous with “retail poison.” We’ve all witnessed this first hand, and to deny it is to deny reality. Out point is that a set based on The Force Awakens might have gone over a tad better, but the best thing Hasbro could have done here was to make it focused on The Rise Of Skywalker since next to nothing was done for it in terms of action figures.
