Poe Dameron/BB-8 - SW [R] - Two-Packs

A hotshot X-wing pilot for the Resistance, Poe Dameron is a natural leader who keeps an eye on the crew of the Colossus. When Poe sets out on his own missions, he leaves behind BB-8, a rolling BB unit whose spherical shell is packed with useful tools and computer interface equipment, to work alongside Kaz and the rest of the crew.

Yikes. It’s like getting The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi thrown at you all out once, but in animated style. Hasbro adds the obligatory Star Wars: Resistance Poe Dameron and BB-8 to the Two-Packs subline of the Star Wars [Resistance] basic figure line. You likely either love or hate these characters at this point, but either way, Star Wars collectors should expect to see these characters and more until the Sequel Trilogy is complete. In all honesty, the Star Wars [Resistance] interpretations of Poe Dameron and BB-8 are done extremely well, and they complement the line perfectly. With new likenesses approached in geometric shapes and colorful palettes, the Poe Dameron/BB-8 Two-Packs set forcefully bring the familiar to a level of something new thanks to innovation and clever design. This Two-Packs set may include characters we’ve seen before, but Hasbro has made them very interesting, and you’ll likely want to add them to your collection as well.

Poe Dameron is an all-new figure and comes with five points of articulation. It’s fascinating to see Poe Dameron with the thin and elongated body structure that the animated Star Wars [Resistance] figures uniformly have. As a more short-statured character in the Sequel Trilogy, Poe Dameron now comes off as tall and slender, possessing a lean frame that doesn’t match his more “solid” frame in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. The figure is made well. He has a very nice sculpt with beautiful paint operations. The deco isn’t sloppily applied, and it doesn’t have any issues with blurred lines or chopping textures. Despite an animated take on this character, Poe Dameron has a smooth frame, albeit with strong geometric structures, and gives him a sharpness that we don’t often see in a realistic line. Yes, this action figure looks like a cartoon character, but that’s the whole point. Poe Dameron comes with a well-made accessory too. Hasbro tooled his helmet, and it comes with stunning paint operations in addition to a transparent visor.

BB-8 is another great figure in this Two-Packs set. Not too much sets him apart from the realistic interpretations Hasbro’s made throughout the years. However, he’s much larger and rounder this time around and comes with better deco and a better center of balance, although that’s still not perfect yet. BB-8 only comes with a couple of points of articulation, but that’s expected by collectors at this point in the game. BB-8 is nicely decorated and nicely sculpted. Hasbro did a good job with him, but if you’ve seen one BB-8 action figure from Hasbro, you probably have seen them all. This one is better, but it’s truly just more of the same. Together, Poe Dameron and BB-8 look fantastic together. They share a similar color scheme and the pair are reminiscent of the Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 during the Battle of Yavin, yet different because of obvious reasons. Once again, we’re quite impressed with how the animated figures are shaping up by Hasbro. We hope the line is long and prosperous for them and that they start including some of the alien designs as soon as humanly possible.
