A vicious, daring man of few words, Major Vonreg is known for his custom crimson TIE fighter and his lightning fast strikes against anyone who dares intrude into First Order territory.
Why couldn’t the characters in The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi look half as cool as Major Vonreg? Major Elrik Vonreg is a human male First Order TIE Fighter Pilot and is a skilled starfighter pilot. It makes sense why he is a major character in the Resistance television show. Star Wars: Resistance is full of characters that are sensory overload to the senses. And Major Vonreg is no different. He looks like something which comprises parts from the Prequel Trilogy and Sequel Trilogy. The clone-like character sports a completely red outfit accented with black details like boots and gloves. And yet his outfit maintains that he is an Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot with a new vibe. On top of everything else, he’s reminiscent of a bounty hunter. This character is inspiring, interesting and seemingly captures the best parts of the Star Wars universe in one Hasbro action figure. The Star Wars [Resistance] line is done very well, but will there be enough support by the buying public?
Like most characters in the Star Wars: Resistance television show, Major Vonreg has a thin and elongated frame. The figure is beautiful and highly detailed with creases, wrinkled and pockets which give him outfit character. The figure comes with five points of articulation. These points include a ball-socket head, two swivel shoulders, and two swivel hips. Major Vonreg possesses beautiful posture. Despite the figure’s simple articulation, you can achieve some rather awesome-looking poses thanks to his confident stature and great balance. He looks like a warrior as much as he does a pilot. And with his blaster pistol in hand, he comes across as a severe threat to the Resistance. Hasbro gave Major Vonreg a stunning paint job. Yes, the base color of his outfit is bright red, but it’s also accented with a deeper red color including shin guards and knee pads and shoulder pads and gauntlets. The paint detail is neat and clean. Hasbro truly did a fantastic job here.
He doesn’t come with a removable helmet which might be disappointing to some fans. But this also prevents an oversized helmet from getting tooled. Major Vonreg’s head sculpt is perfectly sized on this figure, and it too has received very nice paint operations. Overall, we’re thoroughly impressed with how nicely Major Vonreg turned out. Yes, we would love to see this figure realized in The Vintage Collection of The Black Series 6” line, but this 5POA version isn’t terrible by any stretch of the imagination. Admittedly, we’re really digging the character selection of this show. Because of a great beginning toy line, we’re willing to give the show a chance. Everything about it from the classic animation style to the bold primary color of the characters in it, it seems that Star Wars: Resistance may be a “hit that never was.” With so much competition vying for the attention of fans, it’s unknown if any new Star Wars Entertainment will be a merchandising success.
