We were very impressed with the TARGET exclusive Stormtrooper (Squad Leader)/Mudtrooper/Imperial Patrol Trooper/Han Solo (Mimban)/Stormtrooper (Mimban)/TIE Fighter Pilot six-pack. Now one of the figures is promoted to a basic figure in the Star Wars [Solo] Force Link 2.0 basic figure line. Slightly improved from the 5POA format, Han Solo (Mimban) is still a simply articulated action figure but comes with the enhancement of two swivel wrists; necessary for posing the blaster rifle in his hands in a believable manner. We appreciate that many collectors feel the 5POA format is less than ideal. Plus, the new Force Link 2.0 technology might go down as one of the worst pack-in premiums of any Star Wars line to date. But if you take some time to take in what Hasbro worked into Han Solo (Mimban), you may find that the figure offers you quite a bit for the 3.75” action figure line. Han Solo (Mimban) is an action figure that looks pretty amazing right out of the packaging. And if you’re inclined, you can display him with the included goggles and mask which will make him look like another Mudtrooper from Solo: A Star Wars Story. Let’s analyze the figure a little more closely.
The Mudtroopers were an instant fan favorite character from Solo: A Star Wars Story. In the TARGET exclusive set, Hasbro included a generic Mudtrooper in addition to Han Solo (Mimban). This Han Solo (Mimban) figure is a straight repack of the exclusive TARGET release. An instant fan-favorite character from Solo: A Star Wars Story, collectors can add the Mudtrooper version of Han Solo into their collections. We, of course, will await Hasbro making a super-articulated version in the future. Han Solo (Mimban) is a retool and repaint of the Mudtrooper figure. They added an inordinate amount of detail to Han Solo (Mimban). And they cleverly made the mask and goggles separately-sculpted pieces to make the figure more interactive. We suppose we’re getting two characters for the price of one here. But purists may not be content with that sentiment and only see this as a version of Han Solo, and nothing more. Although Hasbro utilized much of the same tooling to give us this version of Han Solo, there are enough unique parts to keep them unique to each other.
Han Solo (Mimban) isn’t without its issues. He has terrible paint operations on his face, and this is especially evident in his eyes. Thankfully, you can cover them up with both the separately-sculpted (and removable) goggles and the removable (yet permanently attached) mask. We looked carefully and are unable to find any meaningful differences between the TARGET exclusive figure and the basic carded Force Link 2.0 figure. Han Solo (Mimban) is tooled in a pre-posed action stance. It works, but you aren’t left with any options aside from how the figure is presented in the packaging. Limited articulation and pre-posed sculpting is a major problem for the 3.75” Star Wars basic figure line. And it severely limits what collectors can do with the figure they purchase from Hasbro. Does Han Solo (Mimban) look great? Yes, absolutely. But is it a functional action figure? Well, not so much. If you bought the “Imperial Forces” six-pack at TARGET you could probably skip over the basic figure release of Han Solo (Mimban), but if you’re looking to army build more Mudtroopers, you may want to keep buying this figure to grow your army.
