Years ago, when the Sith attacked the Jedi at Ossus, Cade Skywalker disappeared in a fiery blast. Everyone believes he's dead except Wolf Sazen. And as it turns out, Cade's former Jedi Master is right. Cade is now a disillusioned bounty hunter and pirate who carefully hides his true identity from everyone. But through a series of circumstances, Cade must face his past – and battle the ruthless Darth Talon, the Emperor's newly chosen assassin.
When
Hasbro re-launched the Comic Packs line in The Legacy
Collection,
they thankfully treated fans to mostly all-new sets. (At
the start of the line, only one set was a repack from the 30 (77-07) line.) On top of giving collectors all
new additions to the line, Hasbro thought it was high time
to offer collectors some really great all-new figures
as well. They succeeded with this release and provided both
art and value in one package to collectors. The Darth Talon/Cade
Skywalker set is a perfect example of what fans expect Hasbro
to provide for purchase on store shelves. While repacks and
retools are inevitable, Hasbro needs to continue to up the
ante on what they will decide to release as quality products.
Including two very popular Expanded Universe figures, the
set also gave us two super-articulated figures with very
good likenesses that have very few (if any) issues. Based
on the Star Wars: Legacy comic series, the Darth Talon/Cade
Skywalker set will make a lot of fans very happy because
it is an awesome set.
Cade Skywalker
is brilliantly sculpted. His costume is loaded with detail
very faithful to the comic books and he has a "grit" in his
face that is perfect for the nature of his character. While
his eyes look too big and round when compared to the comic
book character, very other detail about him is near perfect.
His hair is loaded with the various streaks and highlights
as should be there and his body is athletic and not too tall
when compared to Darth Talon. You may be interested to know
that he was packed without a lightsaber for quite some time
after his release. Hasbro did fix this issue late in the
run, so the version with his lightsaber is quite a bit harder
to find. There is also a packaging error. Early sets were
numbered "2" but it was ultimately fixed to "4" right before
it stopped shipping. These things can drive completists absolutely
crazy, but if you're a long time collector, you know this
is inevitable from Hasbro. But whichever version you choose
to add into your collection, know that Cade Skywalker is
a refreshingly cool new figure to get into your collections.
Cade Skywalker, who was promoted from pirate/bounty hunter
to Jedi, is an example that anything is possible to change
and rise up from where you are to carry the Jedi legacy forward.
Darth Talon
should make fans of Twi'leks and Zabraks (Darth Maul specifically)
very happy. A Sith Lord, Darth Talon was adorned in the same
tattoos that were seen on Darth Maul. Darth Talon served
as Sith Master to Cade Skywalker, until her quickly renounced
the Sith and became a Jedi. He ultimately defeated Darth
Talon in a lightsaber battle that also included Darth Nihlus.
Her action figure is beautifully done. She is athletic, sleek
and sexy and she has a very dismissive look on her face.
Hasbro did an astounding job on this action figure and you
can bet that this first release will be the definitive
version of her. She is that good. Both Cade and Talon are
outfitted with their appropriate lightsabers and Cade also
comes with a gun. There is a great deal of value and it is
a worthy candidate for addition into your Comic Packs collection.
The Legacy series
has a lot of bleak moments and a lot of lightsaber battles,
so readers are treated to some intriguing and action packed
moments in the Star Wars saga. Hasbro has selected two ideal
candidates from the series as action figures and it will undoubtedly
make many fans very happy.
