Padmé has worn many mantles during her young life, including queen, senator and warrior. To each role, she brings her characteristic poise and intelligence, whether she is in the midst of a diplomatic discussion or facing a menacing encounter with an enemy.
This
was the first animated figure of Padmé Amidala
we got in The Clone Wars line. She was
a great debut figure, especially since she looked
familiar to the hardcore collectors. (And by
that we mean she is an animated figure of a movie-based
character.) Essentially Padmé Amidala
is an animated interpretation of her appearance
in Star
Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones,
but this time with a purple cape and hood. But
if you choose to display her without the cape
and hood, you will see this close relationship
much more easily. Padmé Amidala
is the type of action figure that pleases collectors
and will even crack a smirk on the face of many
of the hardcore “movie
only” collectors since she is recognizable
from the films (and quite faithful as well).
Hasbro is obviously inundated with work for The
Clone Wars line because aside from the clones
and other repaints, all figures must be tooled
from the ground up. Likewise Padmé Amidala
is an all-new figure. And since all of the figures
are new, some will have less articulation. Padmé Amidala
is one of these examples, but it works in her
favor. And she is a beautiful figure too.
Padmé Amidala
has a beautifully
lean and athletic body. (She should - just like
her appearance in the films.) This toned body
type has translated well into the action figure.
Complete with delicate
arms, toned legs and a waist to make most envious,
Padmé Amidala
is the archetype for what a heroine should look
like. Not only is the body of the action figure
a true representation of her character, the portrait
on her face
has caught the expression of a discerning woman
of distinguished courage. Her eyes are big but
not full of emotion to interpret what she is
feeling easily. Padmé Amidala has a lot
less articulation than you may have hoped but
trust us when we say less is more here. Engineered
with only a modest
eight points of articulation, we want to express
immediately that this isn’t a paltry amount.
She can be posed in a variety of ways and it
is just enough in our opinions. Hasbro also ensured
that the joints she does have are very well hidden.
This is always a nice added bonus for our figures.
And while you may wish for more movement since
she is in an outfit that she
was very active in you will likely see that due
to her thin arms and legs, it may have and adverse
effect on the figure's aesthetic. This could
make her look strange.
Padmé Amidala
looks a little static in her pose, but she also
looks awesome. Her outfit is cast in a very clean
white plastic and you will find various and diverse
ornamentation throughout her close-fitting gear.
We think Padmé looks best without her
head gear, but we understand why Hasbro needed
to include it as an extra accessory. Speaking
of accessories, she comes with a battle droid
blaster in addition to her Naboo blaster pistol.
And of course her hat and cape are removable
as well. Padmé Amidala's head sculpt is
excellent and Hasbro designed her hair just like
how we saw it in Episode II (it just makes her
look spectacular). Overall, Padmé Amidala
is one of the better action figures in The
Clone Wars line and it affirms to us that
Hasbro is trying their best to make both collectors
and kids happy with their rich line of action
figures based on the television series. We bet
Padmé Amidala will see various releases
throughout The Clone Wars run and if
Hasbro keeps releasing great figures like this
one, we have a lot to look forward to indeed.
But is fate is any indication, Hasbro will take
their good old time getting them out to us.
