A trained warrior desperate to escape his past, Finn is plunged into adventure as his conscience drives him down a heroic, but dangerous, path.

The Disney Elite Series came in fast and furiously on Force Friday. And after getting the “same old thing” from Hasbro for years, a nice chunky facet of the adult Star Wars collecting community developed a morbid curiosity for these The Black Series like metal action figures supposedly loaded with articulation and coming with fantastic likenesses. Many soon realized the line wasn’t everything it claimed or alluded. While the amount of articulation is hefty, the ranges of motion they provide aren't fantastic. And while the likenesses are seemingly excellent, simple (in fact overly simple) paint operations make the skin look too porcelain and synthetic than realistic and accurate. With all of the introductory figures based on characters from The Force Awakens, Disney revealed early on that the line would be culling Star Wars characters from the Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy as well.

Finn, a main character in The Force Awakens was one of the figures in the Elite Series line. And for all intents and purposes he looks rather excellent. We think he has a potentially wonderful likeness, but we’re not happy with how his skin tone has been applied. As a result, he has the porcelain doll appearance that seems to plague most of the human characters in this line. Granted, when your dealing with a medium such as die cast metal, we understand not all of the finest details can be captured too well. But where the sculpt lacks, paint operations should pick up the slack and that doesn’t seem to happen with Finn. It looks like him. Then it doesn’t look like him. For us, that is too unstable of a collectible for us to be completely satisfied. Others may feel differently about this and that’s fine. We’re not trying to disparage the line if you’re into it. But we feel it just lacks in more ways than one.

Finn comes with one official accessory and one unofficial accessory. His unofficial accessory is the removable shell of his jacket. It is cast from a very rubbery substance that is easily removable against the figure’s metal frame. It is beautifully sculpted and painted, albeit it has a few messy paint operations here and there (especially the red deco). But when Finn is wearing it, it looks incredible. You can’t display Finn without it because his sleeves remain part of the figure when the shell is removed. Besides, it covers up the holes on the figure's back. The official accessory is a Resistance blaster. It too is beautifully sculpted and painted and we have always been impressed with how well Disney has recreated these figures’ weapons. He can hold it with his right hand but not his left (and least not for too long). All in all, Finn is pretty well done. It just has some issues some of us may not be able to overlook.
