ScreenRant.com is claiming that at minimal, Ron Howard re-shot 80% of the Solo: A Star Wars Story film and needed twice the budget to complete it. How bad could the original version of the film have been? Yikes.

Happy Halloween, everyone! This week we have a great newsletter with:
The Costco Exclusive Rebel 4-pack and First Order 4-pack Pops are in stock. Now, I actually assumed you NEEDED a membership to order from Costco.com, but that is apparently untrue (at least for most things). You can actually order these two sets now for the same price members pay and you also get free shipping. Just sign up for Costco.com and that’s it! Good thing too, because I had a TON of different ideas I was going to try at my local Costco.
Wow. Apparently just a mistake at the retail level, look what an anonymous JTA reader found at his local Superstore in Canada. That’s the most expensive 5POA figure I have ever seen!
We’re taking a look at the first of two Amazon exclusive The Black Series [Phase III] six-inch figures today. Click below to check out the Elite Praetorian Guard (With Heavy Blade) Visual Guide. Toy Run Facebook group, of which I am part, has a member who has posted proof that there are indeed Disney Infinity action figures by TOYBOX coming. If you recall, we posted this story a few days ago. We have posted the shot below. You likely have to be a member of the group to see the post, so don’t expect the link to work please. I am so excited for this line. These will be fantastic for collectors of all ages. I hope some OT characters are part of the first offering!
Litzky PR on behalf of Hasbro has just released images of the new Mighty Muggs Chewbacca. This thing is pretty adorable. Check out the gallery on our Facebook page.

It’s Back! After a brief hiatus, Comic Research Droids Review returns with this next entry in the Darth Vader series. Vader has just returned after his fight with Jedi Master Infil’a and bleeding his Kyber Crystal, but he is badly damaged.. Take a look at how Lord Vader pulls himself together, makes his first return to the Jedi Temple, and comes face-to-face with a new threat in Darth Vader- The Chosen One (Part VI). Don’t forget to drop me a line with your requests for future reviews! Coming up next is the Mace Windu miniseries.
Well, he isn’t officially listed on the site, but JTA reader and friend Charlie went to great lengths to obtain this link through customer service. So, here is the Elite Series Chewbacca with Porgs page to order. Actually a great figure! Thanks Charlie for the hours of work! lol
Pre-order the Force Link Yoda now for a December 15th ship date.
It’s been over a month since HASCON Captain Rex made his live appearance at HasbroToyShop.com, and he has made a few scattered appearances since then. However, the past few nights, at 4:25 am EST EXACTLY, he has come in stock. It’s real, it’s not fake. He has been ordered and has been shipped. Where is this stock coming from? I don’t know, but it seems a little late for returns and cancellations. It’s just sold out again now, but I wanted to make those aware that it could very well come in stock again tomorrow morning. Good luck to those still searching!
It’s time to check out the Amazon exclusive Elite Praetorian Guard (With Heavy Blade). It’s the focus of our Research Droids Reviews today! Oh, when times were much simpler collecting Star Wars Trading Cards! No hits, no autograph cards, no sketch cards, no 8 different chase sets, etc. etc. etc. Just a base set and some stickers… and maybe a rare obscene ‘error’ card thrown in for drama. We’ve updated our Topps Trading Cards Index with a look at the first three series of Star Wars Movie Photo Cards! Click the banners below for the Index pages for each set.
Check out the latest Star Wars [The Last Jedi] Visual Guide, featuring Jyn Erso (Jedha). Click below to check out the full guide page. Click here to check out the full review.

If you’re still looking for the Gamestop Exclusive Supreme Leader Snoke, Gamestop has started to get them in-store. However, I was only able to find stores that had him”in stock” by using the Gamestop App. Another issue is that a lot of the Gamestops only had the pre-orders, but luckily my local Gamestop had gotten some in. Be sure to call and check before you make the trip! Special thanks to JTA Reader Richard for the tip!
For many of us, in the last couple of years, we have found a new appreciation for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Many have likened the film to a bottle of fine wine, that is getting better with age. Certainly far from perfection, the issues in the film often go overlooked in favor of enjoying what is enjoyable about it. Jar Jar Binks is usually the scapegoat for the film’s critics, but even he doesn’t bother us like he used to. (more….)
Yes, it’s Jyn Erso (Jedha) again. But this one is fun! Find out why in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.

USA Today gets an exclusive today featuring new behind the scenes footage of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Check it out!
Sigh. It’s another action figure based on Rey. Rey (Island Journey) isn’t exciting, but perhaps she’s a necessary release. See what you think in our Research Droids Reviews today! Don’t expect any Han Solo connections in the final season of Star Wars: Rebels. io9 has the full story!
A family in Ohio really went…ENORMOUS with their Halloween decoration. Who really cares if it’s not really festive in the sense of typical Halloween decorations? I know I wouldn’t mind having this thing in my front yard! Check out the video and report by JTA reader and ScreenRant writer Tim Lammers. We thank Tim for sharing this with us.
We have noticed a trend and we were curious if you have been feeling the same way. After all, our interpretation is anecdotal at best. Do you have high expectations for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and is your anticipation for the film difficult to contain? We have noticed that the hoopla surrounding the film feels like it pales in comparison to The Force Awakens: from the toys/merchandise to the promotion of the actual film. While sequels (and even more with a Sequel Trilogy) are expected to not have the same level of hype as the first film in a series, it feels to us that there should be a little more excitement for and conversations about this film. So, tell us how you think this film is being marketed, anticipated and perceived by fans and Disney in our comments!
So, do you think DJ (Canto Bight) will be a thief/smuggler/scoundrel only to join the Resistance in their fight against the First Order? Yeah, we do too. Check out this disappointing figure in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.
After many of you saw our Yoda 12-Inch Figure review you were curious to know where to get one. Amazon has just placed it in stock for $9.99! Hurry before they’re gone! Special thanks to JTA reader Craig F. for the alert! If you need some persuasion, check our our Yoda RDR HERE.
UPDATE: The new Kylo Ren and Captain Poe Dameron are ALSO in stock!
We are kicking off a brand new wave of Star Wars [The Last Jedi] figures. First up is Luke Skywalker (Jedi Exile). Check out the full Visual Guide below. We also have a full review of this figure right here.
Right now at Target.com, nearly ALL Star Wars items are on sale. The Black Series 6″ Executioner is $15.99 (and all other 6″), TIE Silencer is $39.99, Rathtar is $15.99, Vader/Probe is $19.99 and tons of other items on sale including some Forces Of Destiny for $15.99. Take a look. Thanks to JTA reader Agustin for the heads up!
Toys R Us is having a Buy One Get One 40% Off sale on Star Wars. Their store exclusives are included in this promotion. New figures have arrived! Let’s check out Luke Skywalker (Jedi Exile) from the Force Link line. He’s the focus of our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.

We’ve updated our Topps Trading Cards Index with another set from this year. Check out our complete breakdown of the Star Wars 40th Anniversary Trading Cards.
We have a sneak peek for you of the newest wave of Force Link basic figure before we begin the reviews tomorrow! Check out galleries and collector notes for these figures now. DJ (Canto Bight) is a nice figure, but it doesn’t look much like Benicio Del Toro at all. He comes with an all-new and very cool blaster that looks like something from the Old West. R2-D2 is the star of the wave for us. Hasbro resurrected the Build A Droid sculpt for this figure and we couldn’t be more elated about it. Luke Skywalker (Jedi Exile) looks much better without his hood but comes with two extra points of articulation: swivel wrists. And Rey (Island Journey) is really just a reason for Hasbro to double dip on a version of this character we already have, but this all-new sculpt does come with swivel elbows this time around. Click any of the images below to be taken to our Research Droids Reviews on this wave of figures. General Leia Organa and Jyn Erso (Jedha) will be forthcoming.
ThingsFromAnotherWorld.com has nearly EVERYTHING on sale for up to 75% off including pre-orders for the new comics and novels, ARTFX Statues, Pop! figures, and everything else. Take a look at all their Star Wars items and see what you can find. The new Kylo in TIE Silencer Pop is on sale for $23, Yoda & R2 Dagobah ArtFX statue is only $49, and the ROTJ Luke ArtFX Statue is only $63! These are just a few of the many things on sale. What did you find?
THANK YOU, Steve Evans! Would you believe that the new R2-D2 from the Star Wars [The Last Jedi] line is not only Force Link compatible, but that it has been made from the fan favorite Build A Droid sculpt? Hasbro resurrected this tooling (complete with foot wiring) to create a divine version of R2-D2. It’s one of the greatest R2-D2 figures we have received in the line to date! We have been begging Hasbro to bring back this sculpt into the basic figure line, and it appears they’ve listened! Stay tuned for more soon! Click the thumbnail below to check out R2-D2 in an un-assembled state!
It’s the beginning of the end. Star Wars Rebels is back for its fourth and final season. The hourlong season premiere saw Sabine and the rebels return to Mandalore. Click the banner below to read the full review!
The Kylo Ren 12-Inch Figure didn’t get released until the third wave of the Star Wars [The Last Jedi] 12-Inch Figure line. Weird, huh? Check out this figure in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.

You may want to check out Hasbro Toy Shop’s eBay store again. They’re adding new stuff all the time and we have noticed even more items going further down in price. Check it out.
Well, for me, this is a disappointing store report. JTA reader Richard F. has found the Titanium Series helmets at his local Five Below store. I personally felt these were one of the nicest The Black Series [Phase III] sub-lines that Hasbro has made. Between this news and the latest helmets being relegated to store exclusives, it looks like this line doesn’t have much life left.
Check out tonight’s featured Visual Guide Update, the GameStop exclusive Inferno Squad Agent. Click below for our full guide page. This was also today’s featured review! Click here for the full review.
We are receiving a flood of reports that the GameStop exclusive Supreme Leader Snoke (Throne Room) figure is finally shipping despite one delay after another. (It’s out fo stock now, but the product page is RIGHT HERE if you’re interested.) If you haven’t placed your order yet because you need more persuading, be sure to check out our full review and gallery on this nice release HERE.
We’ve just been informed that Entertainment Earth has received a very limited amount of Rogue One 3 3/4-Inch Wave 4 cases and sets IN STOCK. This includes FENN RAU, Death Trooper, Shoretrooper, Admiral Raddus, Galen Erso, and Lt. Sefla. Click here for the full case and click here for the full set!
Look how much lower The Black Series [Star Wars 40] Han Solo and Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) 6″ figures have dropped on Amazon!
It’s time to check out the GameStop exclusive Inferno Squad Agent. This Star Wars: Battlefront II character is pretty cool as well as the focus of our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.
When I look back at the third phase of The Black Series 6″ line through the recent reveals at NYCC, there is a diverse assortment of about six figures that really stand out to me. Lando Calrissian and the Imperial Royal Guard from wave 11 are definitely two of Hasbro’s best efforts. But then when I jog my memory further back in history, I remember the excitement of waiting to acquire the First Order Stormtrooper and Captain Phasma from wave 1 and wave 2 respectively. (That was of course before I saw Episode VII.) And then what a joy it was actually attending the HASCON convention and get the exclusive Clone Captain Rex. It’s going to be so exciting to see his “photo realistic” face deco in person. And the NYCC-revealed Rey (Island Journey) was a nice surprise too. She’s a nice-looking figure that’s also coming with “photo realistic” technology. You can truly see how far they’ve come in this format. These are not fourth rate action figures. No, they ride the crest of the wave of action figure superiority as far as we’re concerned. I wouldn’t mind seeing them again before the end of the year in fact. Let us know what figures stand out for you too!
We’re back! After an extended hiatus, JTA’s look back at Star Wars: The Clone Wars is resuming. We’ll be reviewing every episode of the series in chronological order and we’re picking up right where we left off with the season one episode “Lair of Grievous.” Click the banner below to read the full review!
The Star Wars [The Last Jedi] 12-Inch Yoda is our latest addition to the Visual Guide database. Click below to check it out. Make sure to also read our full review right here.
Sideshow Collectibles has placed their Stormtrooper Life-Size Bust up for pre-order. What a shame they changed the display base! Now this one won’t match the rest of them.
EA has released a new trailer that showcases Battlefront II’s highly anticipated single player campaign. Not only does the game look gorgeous, but it offers an intriguing glimpse into the mind of an Imperial soldier and the state of the galaxy after the events of Return of the Jedi. Click through to see Iden Versio and Inferno Squad in action!
We often talk about what figures we’d like to see Hasbro re-release in The Black Series 6″ line. And we often come up with some great ideas. But in the midst of new Disney Star Wars Entertainment, it makes perfect sense that some previously released figures that have appeared in The Force Awakens should probably get out again for The Last Jedi. (more….)
The new Yoda 12-Inch Figure is pretty darn nice. Find out why in our Research Droids Reviews today! They’ve been hitting for a couple of weeks now, but we just never received the proof. Finally, after a long waiting period, the Prototype Boba Fett wave of The Black Series [Phase III] 3.75″ line is finally hitting Walmart brick and mortar. Special thanks to JTA reader Aric B. for the report.
JTA reader Michael M. has found the new Galactic Heroes sets at his local retailer and noticed something about Luke’s “walking stick”. What do you think?
JTA reader dogbite is impressed with the new The Force Awakens focused Titanium Figures. Click through for what he has to say about them.
A new Funko three-pack has been found on Walmart.com! Wedge, Biggs and Porkins have all been revealed. Check it out. Special thanks to JTA reader Pete H. for the news.
The next vehicle we are adding to the Star Wars [The Last Jedi] Visual Guide is the Canto Bight Police Speeder. Click below to check out both the speeder and the pilot in today’s featured Visual Guide. We also have a full review of this vehicle and figure set right here.
A familiar face is returning in next episode of Star Wars: Rebels. “In the Name of the Rebellion: Parts One and Two” airs next Monday and will feature the return of Saw Gerrera, once again voiced by Forest Whitaker. Saw isn’t the only returning character though, Mon Mothma is back as well. Lucasfilm has sent out a press release and clip previewing the latest episode. Click through for more!
Toys R Us is going above and beyond with its price-matching policy this year. The holidays are all about giving, and that means a lot to us. That’s why we’re introducing our Price Match Promise: Not only will we match competitors’ prices, we’ll donate $1 to Toys for Tots every time you price match in store, up to $1 million. JTA sponsor Dorkside Toys has some FANTASTIC deals happening RIGHT NOW with figures from The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ line. Be sure not to miss out their on specials and promotions!
The Canto Bight Police Speeder (with Canto Bight Police) is a fair release. It has its issues, but at least everything here is in the film. Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today! Special thanks to Litzky PR and Hasbro for providing us with this review sample! Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.
We are quite fond of The Black Series [Phase III] Centerpiece Collection sets Hasbro has released this year on Force Friday II. They provide beautiful scenery and a great backdrop for the 6″ figures while introducing static figures a lot like the former Unleashed figures into the mix as well. With the release of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker in this line already, we believe there are two characters are sorely missing from this line that we should probably expect to see in this format soon. Kylo Ren and Rey would make two important character releases in this format, no?
We are still getting plenty of reports that TARGET (and Walmart) are getting plenty of The Black Series [Phase III] wave 13 figures in stock. I personally haven’t seen these locally, but the reports are coming in strong. Special thanks to JTA reader Derek H. for the image.
JTA reader and friend Mario M. sends us word and a photo that the Guardians Of Evil 4-pack has been found at Disneyland in California. If you’re headed out there you might want to see if you can pick up this great set there while vacationing!
We are reaching out to our viewers who have a talent for dynamic action figure photography to help add a little extra to our Visual Guides by showcasing their work of figures in an environmental setting. Action figure photography has become increasinly popular lately, and we were inspired by some of the amazing photos submitted to Instagram user starwarstheblackseries and thought this would be a great way to show off action figures beyond our basic identification guides (if you don’t follow them on Instagram, you should!). We’d like to pick the best of the best and add a few additional slides to some of our Visual Guides. If you want to make a contribution to our guides and think you have what it takes then click through for some basic guidelines for submission.
We have another Star Wars [The Last Jedi] Visual Guide update tonight, featuring the Resistance A-wing Fighter vehicle. It’s official! The Han Solo standalone film has a title. It’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Ron Howard announces this news at StarWars.com. Your thoughts in the comments!
The Resistance A-wing Fighter (with Resistance Pilot Tallie) is a nice release. The best thing about it is that there is no NERF feature to be found here at all. It also imitates old school Star Wars concept art and we’ve provided the evidence. Special thanks to Hasbro and Litzy PR for providing us with this review sample. Find out more in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Do you believe that today is the 35th anniversary of the publication of Rusty Miller’s The Jedi Master’s Quizbook? It was published October 12, 1982. Many of you out there remember this book coming out like it was yesterday, as well as his appearances on television and in People magazine. Amazon still has the book listed. It’s a must-have for all Star Wars fans, especially those who love the Original Trilogy.

Only a couple weeks after their release, Walmart dropped the prices of The Black Series 6″ Centerpieces from $49.99 to $34.99 and The Black Series 6″ Rey and Luke Speeders from $59.99 down to $44.99. Now, it seems that Walmart are lowering the prices of the Speeders once again. JTA Reader DLane5871 shares a find at a local Walmart in Durham, NC. Both Rey and Luke Speeders were dropped to a mere $30! At this price, I would happily grab a couple more (I must admit, they make excellent display pieces). Have you see these prices near you or in another store? Let us know!
eBay seller freemantoys has a lot of new (and exclusive) The Black Series [Phase III] products in stock. The prices are higher than normal MSRP, but FREE shipping applies to almost all the orders. If you’re looking to nab the stuff before anyone else, this might be your best bet!

That’s right…after many, many, MANY delays and date changes they have FINALLY sent out shipping confirmations for the Gamestop Exclusive Supreme Leader Snoke Throne. Phew…what a wait that was! If you haven’t gotten one yet, I highly recommend that you do! It is currently sold out at Gamestop.com, but you might be able to start checking stores this next week. It’s an awesome piece and that has great diorama potential with Kylo Ren (Throne Room). If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out our review of Snoke and see why he’s a must have.
You will go to the Dagobah system. There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me.
IMAX has posted a provocative image on their Twitter page which reveals something controversial about an important Star Wars character. Spoilers apply!
Target is having a huge toy sale where you can save $10 off of $50 or $25 off of $100 (their typical deal). The good thing is, unlike Force Friday II, the discount actually comes right off in the cart. No waiting for gift cards or anything like that. I took the opportunity to grab some of the vehicles and two-packs I held off on. No need for a promo code either! Automatic savings. Click the link to go right to the Star Wars items.
About a month ago, I was doing some late night googling and searching for some deals on TVC and Black Series figures. Paul might remember some of the sketchy looking sites I emailed him in the past to get his opinion on lol. But, after tons of sketchy and straight fraudulent looking sites, I had discovered a couple of gems and there is one that I feel particularly deserves some praise. So, click through to find out a little more about this toy shop and my experience.
Funko revealed two near exclusive Pop! Four packs for Costco. The first is called “First Order Four Pack” and includes Kylo Ren with Glow In the Dark Lightsaber, Supreme Leader Snoke, First Order Executioner, and BB-9E. The second is called “Rebel Four Pack” and includes Rey with Glow in the Dark Lightsaber, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca (with his Porg Pal), and BB-8. Each Pop! is individually packaged within the four-pack box. It’s hard to justify buying a four-pack of Pop! figures most collectors have just because of a slight change (says the guy with every FO Snowtrooper “Variant”), but where have we heard something crazy like that before?? If you’re a die-hard Pop! collector or you haven’t gotten these individually yet, you just might have to pick this up. They do look nice in that four-pack box, but I didn’t even know Costco still existed!
We now have our first 6″ Force spirit figure. Check out Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit) in our Research Droids Reviews today! UPDATE 2: Okay FandangoFanShop.com is back up, but running REALLY slow. Good luck claiming your posters! It was quite a struggle for me! MTFBWY!

Good news, everyone! In case you missed the Battlefront II beta or if you just can’t get enough of it, EA has extended the beta’s availability until October 11th. The event was supposed to end today, but this extension gives fans two more days of gameplay. If you haven’t played the beta yet, what are you waiting for? It’s a blast!
Are you patiently waiting for the new Last Jedi trailer? Well, this isn’t the trailer but AMC recently revealed some interesting information about the film. AMC has listed the run time for The Last Jedi at two hours and thirty minutes. If their listing is correct, The Last Jedi is the longest Star Wars film to date. Currently, Attack of the Clones is the longest film in the saga with a run time of two hours and twenty-two minutes.
Get your accounts in order and logged in if you are wanting to get tickets to The Last Jedi during a premium time on opening night! Tickets go on sale tonight! Tickets will supposedly go on sale when the trailer drops during the Monday Night Football halftime (approximately 10 PM Eastern), but the LAST time they did this the tickets were available well before the trailer aired. So, keep an eye on your desired online outlet for sales to open up! Here’s a link to the Fandango The Last Jedi page.

We’re continuing our discussion about what figures Hasbro should probably focus on for The Vintage Collection. Our next topic up for discussion is The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. We’ve enlisted the help of famed customizer Peakob1 and his readership add their voices to come up with a great cast of options. So now, we want our readers to check out their suggestions and continue to add to the list of character ideas for this great and rich period of Star Wars. Remember, this great cast of characters would be figures done in realistic style for The Vintage Collection. Click through for more!

JTA reader and friend Sebastian E. was inspired to customize an Ugnaught action figure based on our description in the Collect All 92! post we did a few days ago. Look how awesome it looks. And to think Hasbro has this tooling available right now as we speak. This would make a fine real addition to The Vintage Collection! Again, this customized figure is made up of parts from 2009’s TLC Ugnaught (BD 43) and 2009’s LC Ugnaught (BD28) figures.
According to a new product listing on Amazon, it appears that the next wave of Star Wars [The Last Jedi] figures could have a release date as late as February 2018. This is strange because we heard that this wave should be right around the corner from arriving at retail. But who knows what’s really going on with distribution such a mess. Thanks to JTA reader Bryan L. for directing us to this listing.

We think that the expression “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” doesn’t really apply to The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ Kylo Ren (Throne Room) Walmart exclusive. We think for many collectors that the individual parts are going to be more valuable instead. See what you’ll decide by checking out this figure in our Research Droids Reviews today! This comes as no surprise after the success of the first novel and the popularity of the character, but it is good news to hear nonetheless! The official Star Wars Twitter page updated with the news that we will be getting a Thrawn sequel next summer, which will also feature Darth Vader. Click here for the full tweet! Thanks to JTA reader Ginji for the alert!

Our good friends at BanthaSkull.com attended a different session of the Hasbro roundtable, so different topics on The Vintage Collection were discussed. Please check out their overview of the conversation and be sure to look for a slam at someone too.
You may or may not have noticed, but Anakin Skywalker has been conspicuously left out of our last Collect All 92! article for a very specific reason. There has been controversy surrounding what version of Anakin Skywalker the 1985 figure intended to represent. Was that figure supposed to be the Force Spirit as he appeared at the end of Return Of The Jedi, or was it an Expanded Universe “off screen” take of the character “in the flesh” that we never saw onscreen? Judging by the reference image on the POTF card back, it very clear to us that the figure is intended to be the Force Spirit. Either way, 1999’s POTF2 [FB/CT] Anakin Skywalker figure doesn’t represent a good modern update to the 1985 release. That being said, IF Hasbro ever updated this figure, would you prefer the Force Spirit approach taken with 2017’s TBS [P3] Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit) figure, or would you prefer a redo of the 1999 approach instead?
The Hasbro roundtable discussion, in my opinion, was a fruitful event. It got me inspired once again to figure out where we are with The Vintage Collection and where we need to go from an “old school/Original Trilogy” point of view. Please be patient, we will definitely be looking at the various sections of the Star Wars timeline individually so that a clearer and more focused discussion can be had. In the meantime, we have distilled where we stand with Hasbro updating the “Collect All 92!” original vintage Kenner figures in the modern line. This isn’t meant to be interpreted that Hasbro should “only do this” but instead a “when you focus on this, this is what should be considered.” We’re not alienating any group of collectors who want other types of figures. Those articles are forthcoming. To be clear, we will be doing similar articles for Prequel Trilogy, Sequel Trilogy and Expanded Universe characters in addition to other new canon including standalone films, Rebels and The Clone Wars. (more….)
We like the Poe Dameron (Resistance Pilot) figure, but it doesn’t look too much like the character. Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today! It’s time to open up a new section in the Archives! We’re adding brand new definitive Topps guides to our Visual Guide Index section to help collectors navigate the extremely complicated waters that collecting Topps cards have become in recent years. Gone are the days where you could successfully collect an entire set of cards and close the book on that set. Now, it’s virtually impossible to ever fully complete a set of Topps Star Wars cards. It’s a completist’s worst nightmare. There’s the basic set, then insert subsets, then hits, parallels, autographs, sketch cards, and more. You basically have to focus on an area within a set and make that your collecting target. That’s where we come in. We are going to break down these sets showing everything that makes up these complicated sets so you know what you are up against and what to focus on within the overall collection.
We will kick things off with the latest Topps set: Journey To Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We have the complete breakdown right here on our guide page. When available, we will also add some gallery images at the end of our page from the listed set. We will also be opening a complete set index in the near future listing the Topps sets going back to 1977 Enjoy!

The Walgreen exclusive Funko Pop! 2-1B figure is IN STOCK! Special thanks to JTA reader Ben S. for the alert!
A while ago, we suggested that there needed to be a “greatest hits” line for The Black Series 6″ line. Figures like Anakin Skywalker and others command hefty premiums on the aftermarket. In recent Hasbro Q&As Hasbro has also admitted that it’s something they’d like to do to get those older figures out again. Because we’re seeing them tomorrow, we thought we’d compile a list based on your own wants and desires. So, in the comments, let Hasbro know what 6″ figures should be part of a “greatest hits” assortment. Remember, only previously released action figures count in this tally.
Hasbro is not hosting a “The Night Before NYCC Preview Party” this year. However, Jedi Temple Archives has been invited to attend a different type of media opportunity which will be an exclusive roundtable event with notable Hasbro Star Wars brand and design team representatives. (more….)

I know it’s October and we’re all getting into the spirit of the Halloween season, as was this Target shopper, but this is ridiculous! We’ve posted many theft articles as of late and I think the theft issue is bound to come to a head (I know, I’m not funny!). Something needs to be done, but what? JTA Reader MaxOfRen was pretty excited to find this new Headless Ren variant, but was disappointed that it wasn’t in mint condition due to the cutting on the bubble. Such a shame! I guess this is how you get your SA 3.75″ Episode VIII Kylo Ren if you “forgot” your wallet but remembered your box cutter.
Entertainment Earth is now processing pre-orders for the 40th Anniversary Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) and Han Solo figures. Finally! Special thanks to JTA reader Will K. for the update!

The latest novel, Star Wars: From A Certain Point Of View hits shelves today. This is our modern canon version of the Star Wars Tales series from the ’90s, featuring 40 stories for 40 years of Star Wars. Run pick this up at your local brick-and-mortar store, or order it on Amazon.
Finally, we have an advanced look for you on the Walgreens exclusive Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit) figure. If you recall, JTA broke the news of this upcoming figure back in January. The figure is alright we suppose, but it’s nothing incredibly noteworthy. New collectors are already clamoring how amazing this figure looks, but longtime collectors have long been aware of this approach Hasbro utilized to recreate the “Force spirit” effect. It was first done with the very popular 2007 TAC Anakin Skywalker’s Spirit (30 45) figure. Obi-Wan Kenobi is based on the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Obi-Wan Kenobi figure’s sculpt but this time has been cast in translucent plastic and has been given a new sheer soft-goods purple robe. It looks good, but it’s also familiar. Check out the photo gallery now in our Research Droids Reviews.
We also have a sneak peek of the GameStop exclusive The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ Supreme Leader Snoke (Throne Room) figure. We’re unable to see any of the interest this figure has created in so many fans, but whatever. This new villain in The Last Jedi looks like a recycled Emperor Papatine more than anything to us, but the 6″ figure is well made regardless. With premium soft-goods and some awkward features (Is that his ring or is he just happy to see us? AND Is that cod piece a leftover prop from Cameo’s “Word Up” music video?) We’re not sure, but the figure does have some major Hugh Hefner like qualities. Let’s just hope this one doesn’t subjugate women too. Check out the photo gallery now in our Research Droids Reviews.
We have an early look for you with the Walmart exclusive The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ Kylo Ren (Throne Room) figure. We know, another Kylo Ren, right? The figure has merit however. A new/revised human portrait accents his scar and bruised eyes. The inclusion of a metal Kylo Ren helmet (portrait) and lightsaber hilt are strange additions, but noteworthy because of their authenticity. The figure also boasts a soft-goods cloak which fits better than we thought it would. And the inclusion of a three-part Throne Room floor is the icing on the cake. We’re not sure how this figure will perform at Walmart this season, but we hope it does well so we can get some other more interesting environmental display stands in the future. Check out the photo gallery now in our Research Droids Reviews. With special thanks to Yakface.com, you can search for this figure using the Walmart SKU of 287877571. The UPC is in the Collector Notes in our review.

We have a sneak peek for you of The Black Series [Phase III] Jaina Solo (Legends) (56) figure! Save for her facial paint operations, she’s about the most perfect 6″ figure we have ever seen Hasbro produce thus far. They’ve even added a new hinge-jointed waist to this figure for optimal movement. From the interchangeable outfits (you really get two for the price of one here) to the wealth of her many accessories, 6″ fans are going to have to search their souls if they decide to pass on this beauty. Equally Han Solo as she is General Leia, Jaina Solo (Legends) is everything you have expected from the TBS6 line. Hasbro has delivered big here. And it make us feel like she is the Rey that never was. We’ll go cry in a corner now. Check her out!

We are getting a ton of successful store reports with our readers finding the Walgreens exclusive Obi-Wan Kenobi figure. Keep the reports coming! Special thanks to JTA reader Braden H. for this report and image!
Now that we have Princess Leia Organa and R2-D2 based on their A New Hope appearances in the bag for the Forces Of Destiny line, it would make sense for Hasbro to also include a Stormtrooper in this line too, wouldn’t it?
We have a nice image of the empty box of the recently revealed Princess Leia Organa/R2-D2 set from the Forces Of Destiny line so you can see it’s diorama potential. Check it out by clicking the image below.

Well this is interesting! Toys R Us has updated their Forces Of Destiny section to include the Princess Leia Organa/R2-D2 two-pack as their latest exclusive. If you recall, this set was a recently revealed in Brazil at the Disney Expo there, and our own sources hinted this would be coming to Toys R Us this holiday season. It looks like that rumor has panned out. It cannot be pre-ordered yet, but they do have a December 6th availability date listed. Thanks to JTA readers Mike M. and Brian K. for the alerts!
UPDATE: It looks like other online shops have this for pre-order too. Perhaps TRU is confused about having this as their exclusive, but our sources have confirmed this too at one point. Maybe it has since changed.
JTA reader Agustin alerts us to newly revealed Disney Elite Series die cast metal figures. Click the image below to check them out!
Jedi Temple Archives has a source who knows one of the salespeople at TRU, (a fellow collector by the way), who met with Hasbro France’s sales representatives in September. (It sounds like a game of “Operator” already, doesn’t it? It has to be untrue, right?) In this session, there was a Q&A session. Our source was able to submit his own question that this TRU salesperson would be able to ask Hasbro. His question was about case assortments for The Black Series 6″ line. The answer made us feel sad. (more….)
If you live in Canada, you should probably check out ToysRUs.ca because they’ve placed all of their The Black Series 6″ figures on sale, including the pre-orders for new items. Special thanks to JTA reader Andrew D. for the alert!
I personally found the original Force Link Starter Set a bit lackluster and overpriced at launch (although I enjoy the technology itself), but the lower price point of anywhere from $21-24 made it more tolerable (especially with that $10 off coupon). The TRU Exclusive Force Link Starter Set was a bit more ‘exciting’ with the Executioner and Praetorian Guard, but JTA reader Matt sent in this new Force Link Starter Set he found in Hong Kong with Luke, Rey, Rose, and FO Stromtrooper Officer and I think this is the right direction. Of course, not EVERYONE wants a larger set of figures or wants to spend the extra cash, but I like the different tiers of Starter Sets (even more so if the coupon works for them all!). Will we see this in the US? Maybe. Have you encountered this set yet? Let us know!
UPDATE: Matt made a mistake, this does NOT include a Force Link. So it is not a Force Link Starter Set, but more of a Force Link Figure Set. Sorry for the confusion! This will be exclusive to Kohl’s in October here in the USA.
